I have owned (in order) 1991 Cutlass Siera :rock:, 1999 Cavalier Z22 (the radio wouldnt stay in place) 2001 cavalier z24 5 speed...loaded, now this car was great for me, until about 155,000K and ya :piss: then came my 2003 grand am se four door :( and finally a 1982 gmc 1500 diesel!!

And now its my time!!

Found a white 2004 Rx-8 with 23,000K loaded, leather, everything i wanted

But after a freak blizzard here in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, I have been unable to try her out.

Don't even THINK of driving on snow/ice if it don't got snowtires on! The Dunlop/Bridgestone stock tires will try to kill you.

If you have good tires it is not too bad, except today, the drifts are knee deep here....

+1 on the snow tires. Look at getting 17" wheels with 215/55/17 or 225/50/17.

Welcome!! Dido on the snow tires. Also since you bought it used I recommended flushing all the fluids. After that frequent oils changes and high reving should keep it running great.

Welcome to the club... guess the other thing about driving your snowwhite 8 in the winter is that you might accidentally lose your car in the snow (the color and all) :). Congrats on the purchase --> one more thing ... are you sure it's a 2004? They didn't have white until 2005.

I got caught in the freeze in Northumberland last night. Thought I'd take the RX out in the afternoon, with stock tires. Snowed while we were in the meeting, got out and braved the sheer ice. I drove 20k at 40-50km/h, then the 401 was clear, then another 20k crawling along between 10-30km/h. I had to stay on the shoulder to get a modicom of grip - the road was sheer ice, and the back end would just swing if I even tried to go any faster.
Fortunately for me, there were only 2 other cars on the really bad parts, so I would have only hurt myself.
Time to park it for a while...

or get winter tires and you will have no problems.

we've gotten snow twice here in woodstock.... both was on only 2cm.. and it was gone a day or two later.. its the 12th of january, and its currently 10 degrees at 5pm.....

Its not just the snow that is the issue. Performance tires do not work well at all when they get too cold. It it is below zero, your tires are not going to have very good grip.

hey dude, similar story here... Cavalier girl since SGI granted me the right to do so... (circa 1991 or so...) my last Cavalier (out of 3.. the 2001) blew a valve at 138000, sold her after fixing for good cash and bought me my 8!
Spent 13 years in Saskatoon... hows that blizzard melting up... my parents are still there and said it was a gong show..

Edit... also wanted to add get yourself a good set of winters, I have Toyo's on a 17" rim right now, gives you the essential zoom without putting yourself on the neighbors front lawn..
