View Full Version : North Dakota anyone?
Kaiser bun 04-27-2011, 10:53 PM The tpms sensors you can find on this forum for pretty cheap (at least a lot cheaper then $120) in the fs section from reputable members, the coolant sensor happened to me while my car was still on b2b warranty so i had it fixed down at the rapid city dealer (they replaced the entire resiviour "sp?"). Most of the people who are out of warranty just disconnect the sensor and check their coolant from time to time.

zildijianxiv 05-17-2011, 11:48 AM It's almost summertime!
Kaiser bun 05-17-2011, 12:26 PM Doesnt really feel like it yet... I'm still wearing jeans and a sweatshirt everyday.
zildijianxiv 05-19-2011, 12:35 PM Ah really? It's been like 50-60 up here in minot I've been in shorts haha. This winter sucked.
Kaiser bun 05-19-2011, 12:37 PM Its been 50 ish here too... but the wind has been 30mph + every day, today is the first non windy nice day and i think its supposed to rain a bunch this afternoon until like monday.
zildijianxiv 06-03-2011, 02:29 AM FLOOD FIGHT 2011 WOOOO!! Minot is done for
DustinDT 06-11-2011, 09:38 PM Kai, did you drive through J-Town the other day? I saw a red 8 with white rims. Oh btw my clutch went out and blah blah blah. Decided to do it myself and I put the clutch disc in backwards today... not fun.
Kaiser bun 06-11-2011, 09:50 PM Ummmm i did on the first and the fourth on my way to MN and back, but i have black rims w/ chrome lip so it wasnt me.
Even though you did it wrong the first time at least you learned more about your car lol. I'm contemplating putting an alpine double din in while i still have my 2nd job at an audio/video store, but im paranoid i'll screw up some electronics...
DustinDT 06-12-2011, 08:58 AM Hmm I wonder who it was? As for the electronics, a couple of my friends say it isn't going to be that hard. I actually want to try and remove the nav screen and install a flat screen in its place and then get a dvd player. I have a lot of plans for my car. I'm having my friend Owen do something sick that he's never seen before for my paint job come next year tax returns. The next thing I'm doing is installing puddle lights, it looks easy.
Kaiser bun 06-12-2011, 12:14 PM haha ya i had tons of plans for my car too... I have done a fair amount over the last couple years.
clear corners
konig rims
blizzaks on stock rims for winter
entire appearance package
mazdaspeed front
new shift boot w/ mazdaspeed knob
painted calipers
all weather floor mats for winter
replaced undertray and wheel wells after a snowbank snapped them
now I know that I'm at the point where if I'm going to do any more i need to start messing with the engine/transmission/suspension.
DustinDT 08-08-2011, 11:31 PM Anyone got an upgraded nav, I'm about to travel to colorado but I have the 04 version
Kaiser bun 08-09-2011, 12:58 AM nope... I have a touring model so i just use my garmin.
Bunique 08-19-2011, 01:12 AM So I live out here in Cali now and at my gf's apt complex there is a VR 8 with ND plates....Just thought I'd share....hahahaha
Kaiser bun 08-19-2011, 01:33 AM there has been a vr driving around my town the last couple days that i haven't seen before... lol and that sucks you're in cali now, I'll be moving to Fargo this weekend lol
Kaiser bun 09-02-2011, 08:42 PM Hey DustinDT, was your 8 at tintmasters in fargo by chance? Pretty sure i saw it.
DustinDT 09-24-2011, 01:59 PM That it was! She was in to have the slave cylinder release rod fixed.
DustinDT 09-24-2011, 03:52 PM Funny, it's my first saturday free in forever, everyone else is busy for a change and tomorrow there is a tuner gathering in town. Which the tuner gathering wouldn't normally say much but I guess there is a lot of people coming from all over with their cars so it should be fun. So I spent all day cleaning my car, inside and out. Then I go to the gas station and some lady backs into me. Now my bumper is busted and scraped up... not gonna look so good tomorrow haha.
Kaiser bun 09-24-2011, 03:55 PM haha that sucks man, This tuner gathering is in Jamestown? I'm actually back in dickinson for the weekend putting my car in winter mode.. (stock rims w/ blizzaks and stock bumper back on).
DustinDT 09-25-2011, 01:14 PM Yeah it's in Jamestown today around 7. I'm putting my 8 in a garage for the winter. Gonna be driving either a chevy love or a suburban for the winter. I have blizz tires but I dont want to drive here in the winter. They suck at plowing roads in Jamestown and with my luck some asshole would smash into me.
Sioux Falls here. We may be lower than you, but not THAT much lower...so keep me posted.

Kaiser bun 10-19-2011, 09:06 AM will do! this thread has kinda died lol lets try not to let it die
smalltownboy_08 10-19-2011, 11:08 PM alright.. im in oregon right now but ill be back in Devils Lake in early may... so i still consider myself ND and I know my 8 thinks the same :) .. anyway so if we want stuff to talk about here we go.. mr. bun you say next is engine, tran, or suspension.. What do you think you'll start spending money on first?
Kaiser bun 10-20-2011, 12:29 PM Well other then the current transmission seal issue that im having, prob suspension and if so I would do it this coming up summer.
smalltownboy_08 10-22-2011, 04:14 PM weird.. my tranny is leaking too, not anything serious but it would appears to be coming from between the two housings.. wheres yours oozing from??
Kaiser bun 10-22-2011, 11:05 PM It is coming from the rear transmission output seal and it leaks down, gets heated up, and I smell it. It was replaced once under warranty a little over a year ago and it appears to be the same thing. I am in the process of finding out why it is going bad again.
DustinDT 11-28-2011, 07:15 PM I have traveled to North Carolina, it was an awesome drive down, mainly in the mountain areas. Everyone was slowing down to 50 or 55 going downhill and around turns but i punched it up to 95, no joke. Handled beautifully! Cant wait for the drive back!
Kaiser bun 11-29-2011, 03:34 PM Defiantly a fun car in the twisties.... lol
bee_afraid 11-30-2011, 12:31 PM Alright guys,
I'm in Dickinson and haven't met a single legit car guy since being up here. (Ricers and rednecks). We need to set up a meet.
Kaiser bun 11-30-2011, 04:24 PM I was just in Dickinson last weekend (Im going to college in Fargo, but I'm from there)... I'll be back dec 14th or something like that until January 9th. How long have you been up there?
bee_afraid 12-01-2011, 03:47 AM I've been up here for a few months. I originally had my 135i up here but after it received more ND battle wounds than I could count I decided to put RPF1's and snow tires on my 09' civic si and rock it for the winter.
The civic had its mud flap ripped off on the way up here. It's impossible to keep anything nice up here.
Kaiser bun 12-01-2011, 11:54 AM Ya... I've lived in Dickinson my whole life and up until about 2 years ago that wasn't a problem at all. In fact on more than one occasion i made a trip up to Mandarea (north of Kildeer) and there is a nice little stretch of amazingly fun roads, but they are worthless now as you are gurranteed to receive 5 rock chips and get stuck behind countless semis.
DustinDT 12-05-2011, 02:22 PM I'd be down for a meet up but I won't be able to until springtimeish. I'm putting my baby away. Besides I'm short on cash after the trip to NC, back now and the way back was way more fun. Doing 110 around the mountain curves with a 6 and an eclipse. The eclipse tried to run against me and I stomped him, espically around the curves, I was the only one who didnt slow down haha. Stupid, probably, but it was a blast! I did not see a single 8 on my trip though which was disappointing to say the least. I'm gonna need a new clutch though, my stage 3 is finally going out.
Kaiser bun 02-19-2012, 11:06 AM I plan on putting my NOAH car cover up for sale if anybody would be interested in it... I paid around $250 after shipping for it and i'll sell it for $120 or so... only used it prob 5-10 nights total and it doesnt fit with the mazdaspeed bumper on. I also have a garage now so it doesnt really do me any good these days. Let me know if you're interested, I could drop it off anywhere on I-94 between Dickinson and Fargo.
edit: I also have a cheap "Storage Bag" and some wind clamps, it's not much but I thought I would add that.
zildijianxiv 02-20-2012, 02:24 PM Hows everyones mild winter been so far?
Kaiser bun 02-23-2012, 03:03 PM mild ^ lol. Im actually getting kind of sick of this rain/snow mix that just melts right away.
smalltownboy_08 03-13-2012, 05:18 PM Is anyone Auto crossing this year?? I'll be back home and am looking to have more rotary sounds on the weekends other than mine. :)
Kaiser bun 03-14-2012, 12:11 AM Is anyone Auto crossing this year?? I'll be back home and am looking to have more rotary sounds on the weekends other than mine. :)
Where abouts do the events take place? Also, what sort of req are there?
smalltownboy_08 03-14-2012, 05:29 AM 1- http://sccabadlands.org/
2- Get the inside cleaned out.. (the floor mats will even be coming out) so nothing is moving around inside. Helmet (loaners provided and I have always used those). If your battery isn't already make sure it is bolted down. Window chalk (need to mark car # somewhere on car). Event registration is usually 9:30 to 10:30 I think but definitely no later than that. One time weekend participant is like maybe $45.. Scca yearly membership drops the cost but you can ask about that when you're there.
Kaiser bun 03-14-2012, 06:25 PM Very tempting... I defiantly will consider a couple of the bismarck or west fargo events (interning in dickinson this summer but ill have an apartment in Fargo) ill post in here once i decide on some events. Out of curiosity how bad do your tires take a beating in a day?
smalltownboy_08 03-15-2012, 05:39 AM You will not see significant wear.. but kinda depends on type of tire, conditions, track surface, and drive style. (and your definition of significant) If I had to throw a number at it i would say tread height loss of 1/8 inchish at the most..
DustinDT 04-04-2012, 06:51 AM Well guys I'm selling my RX8. I'm moving and can't afford to take her with me. It was great chatting with you guys, take it easy.
Kaiser bun 04-04-2012, 02:31 PM Well guys I'm selling my RX8. I'm moving and can't afford to take her with me. It was great chatting with you guys, take it easy.
What are you replacing it with?
derf360 04-26-2012, 02:40 AM I have a new motor on the way.... not by choice... only made 47k out of it
timmytriangles 04-26-2012, 03:12 AM my friend just moved to N.D he said a lot of roads are unpaved. im not sure if i preffer over new york roads but it cud be better lol
Kaiser bun 04-26-2012, 01:45 PM Where is he driving where there are not paved roads lol?
Derf, does that mean you haven't sold your 8 yet?
derf360 04-27-2012, 02:27 AM Correct, its a love hate thing we have going on
Kaiser bun 04-27-2012, 07:27 PM Correct, its a love hate thing we have going on
Ya I have a love hate relationship with mine, even though I'm not trying to sell it :P
DustinDT 05-10-2012, 08:28 PM Turns out I'm not moving so I'm keeping my baby, although I have 2 codes I just threw, one for misfire and one for AIR celenoid. Easy fix, just need to get money, oh and my throw-out bearing is going bad haha. I think she's mad that I was gonna sell her.
Kaiser bun 05-10-2012, 08:34 PM Haha probably, by the way was that you I saw on 12th in Fargo yesterday? Might have just been a different nordic green, but I figured I'd ask.
DustinDT 05-11-2012, 12:42 PM No, that wasn't me. Still stuck in J-town. I've seen 3 here off and on. Red with white rims, lime green with body kit and blue underglow, and a stock silver. I think they only visit every now and then.
Kaiser bun 05-17-2012, 10:53 AM this the lime green one you saw? Personally I see wayyyy to many things wrong with it to even think its mildly attractive lol
