Hi there... I'm new to this forum. Just got me a TiSilver 6 Spd Sport package. Nice car!

My question.. Is it a known issue/problem/whatever that when I'm in neutral with the clutch not engaged I hear a noise (like something is spinning), but I don't hear it when I push the clutch down?

Right now, I'm planning on taking it back to the dealer, but I just want to know if this has been seen before.

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with your car. It's the Throwout bearing. It's particularly noticable in the RX8. :) There is a thread from a few weeks back about this issue.

Welcome to the forum BTW!

I noticed the same thing the day I picked mine up from the dealer. I even told the service manager, who also heard the noise. Two other 6 speeds were making the exact same noise. The last time I heard a noise like that was in my Ford Bronco II. It was the clutch throwout bearing that was causing it. I sure would like to know what is causing it in my new RX-8 6speed.

First welcome to the board. I think read somewhere here that a few people had this issue and it was normal. I would still take it to the dealer just in case. If it is normal at least you have it documented with your dealer.

Every manual vehicle will make a different noise from when the clutch is engaged to when it is not. I have driven a celica, wrangler, rx7, rx8, cts, ect in manual, every single one does it.
