Alright guys! I have picked the new date for DGRR 2007.

Date will be: Friday April 20th thru Sunday April 22nd, 2007
So, mark your calendars!! Its now official and set in stone!

After about an hour on the phone, I have locked down a price at Fontana Village...

All the rooms and cabins are 25% OFF from their Peak season rate (100 blocks have been set aside for us).

Fontana Village is going thru some major renovations and the increase in price is direct results of it... (and still they don't have cell towers ;()

Tenatively, Saturday night banquet dinner will be more than last year.. $15 per person.

Also, rooms and cabins will be only held for couple of months. There are 2 other small groups that will be staying at Fontana Village. Luckily both groups are non-car oriented groups. But you never know what other groups might reserve the last.. So, please book your rooms asap!!!

I just got off the phone with Fontana Village, to change our original reservation, and they say that our group is NOT scheduled for the 20-22nd, that we are still scheduled for the 11th thru 15th. I mentioned that someone from our group had changed our dates last week, but they claim to have no record of it. They say a dog show has booked the entire place for the 20-22 weekend. :banghead:

If we can't get Fontana to work out, that whole area has tons of large cabins for rent. April is not the peak season so my quick search found a few available.

Yes, it's sticker shock initially, but when you take an 8 bed room and divide it up, the cost drops to be cheaper than some hotels. Some other clubs have done similar things like this. For those who were going to camp, pitch a tent in the back I guess.

This is all food for thought but I'd commit today to taking one of the rooms.

Apparently the new contract had not been completely finalized and the person in group sales was unaware that it was "in process". :shocking: So, as I understand it, we are scheduled for the new dates of April 20-22 and have rooms set aside. However, if you call to reserve, I would double-triple-check that they are putting you in on the correct dates! :wink2:
