Broken Power Door Locks - Any Ideas?

My car was left at the airport over the weekend, and since I returned to pick it up I have had problems with the power door locks. My locks are completely unresponsive to my key fob. The fob will not lock/unlock the doors nor open the trunk. I tried a new battery in the fob as well as placing the new battery in another fob with no luck. Additionally, I have noticed no other quirks with the electrical system. The only thing that I can say that might contribute to this is that it was fairly cold here in TX over the weekend.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The car is fine and not damaged at all. I visually inspected the car and it seems clean.

Wow this is interesting. I dont have this prop but Booster, from what I was told by my local Mazda Dealer they will have to replace the motor. I dont know if he under stood what I was telling him but if thats the case then I think you have to have the new motors drilled in to the windows and this can be a real pain in the *** job.

check EACH and EVERY fuse.

I've found out already that the 8's fuse box seems a lil more quirky then i thought. Apparently, i blew the AC fuse. Well...all the sudden, the AC, stereo, sunroof, heated seats, power windows, LCD display and dome lights didn't work. I checked every fuse and came down to that one being blown. Fixed it, and EVERYTHING else came back on.

seem odd? I think so...especially since the manual stated that it was simply an A/C fuse...without apparent ties to anything else.

My advice is to check the kickpanel fusebox and underhood fusebox for every fuse that can be checked. Sounds stupid, but it saved me a trip to Mazda.

Do you have the advanced key system? It sounds like the car lost track of it and it just needs re-programming. The dealer will probably do it for free if you ask nice. You didn't say if the interior switches work or not.

Thanks all for the feedback.

It seems as though the fuses are just fine for the car, nothing was found there. I took the car into the dealer today and they say that new fobs have to be ordered and programed for the car. They had absolutely no explanation why either fob did not work - not even the old one where the batter simply went dead in it. The guy said he has seen this before. In my opinion there has to be a smoking gun and I think the dealership just would rater get new fobs for me rather than track it down.

As an aside, I found out that the harness for my heated seats was never connected at the factory. I recently sat in a friends Mazda Speed 6 and noticed that the light on the heated seat switch actually came on. I got the car in Florida and did not tnink much of it when I flipped the switch and nothing happened - also never had a use for heated seats in FL. Well now with an early winter in Houston I asked the question today. I wonder what else the factory forgot to connect.........

I will post back in when I get the fobs. Thanks again.

A bit of follow up on this one.

The story ends as they ordered two new remotes for me and programmed them. Everything now works fine.
