Took my 8 (BONE STOCK) in yesterday to get an emissions recall (4206F) and to get a CEL checked out. Now, they are ordering an upper intake and seems like they replaced two spark plugs (N3Z4-18-110). They said the CEL was thrown because of the stock intake. I kept asking what was wrong but never got a real answer. Do any of you know what is wrong with my stock intake?

wild guess, probably your intake valve(s) are malfunctioning and not opening/closing properly.

Now they are telling me that the upper intake needs to be replaced because of emission problems/sluggish engine/etc. I can't, for the love of God, get a DIRECT and ACTUAL answer. Does this sound right?

it was probably just an evap code, thats the only thing ive ever put upper intakes on for. its got the purge solenoid attached to it, that assembly leaks and mazda wants you to
replace the whole upper intake. no big deal
