Is a manual gear change the best defence against Gen-Y carjackers? This from "The Australian" breaking news today:
A MANUAL gear change foiled a woman's attempt at a carjacking, Sydney police said today.
The woman allegedly dragged the female driver from her car when it was stopped at an intersection in Forest Road, Miranda, about 6pm (AEST) yesterday.
But when the would-be thief jumped in the car and tried to drive away, she was thwarted by the manual gears.
She tried to run off but was grabbed by bystanders.
The 49-year-old driver was uninjured.
A 20-year-old woman was charged with trying to steal a car and assault. She will appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
