Does anyone know what the tint % rating is for production cars, just curious if I could go darker.

TIA

Not to be a smart ass, but it is 100% sunlight transmission. The U.S. spec'd cars do not have tint. ;)

But I think I know what you're asking. The legal tint limit, is based on your particular state's laws. See this link I have provided: State Tinting Laws (http://autowindowtintings.com/stateLaws.ihtml).

My tint is within Florida limits. It is 30% on the sides, and 20% on the rear. Check out my pics. Mine seems dark enough for me.

I highly doubt they have NO tint. I've not seen a car in the UK withour some tint (usualy the legal limit of 27% (or lets 73% of the light through).

Put the window half down, look at a piece of white paper through it, should be same if no tint, but I bet theres some.

They don't? Door and rear glass look darker than the front glass. I know the limits for Ohio.... it's 50% all the way around (cept the front). I wanted to make em darker and was wondering what % the cars already had on them... looks to me like 90-80%

Actually a standard piece of window glass (like in your house) has a 10% "tint" due to reflectivity. If you've ever made holograms or done other work with lasers, a plain old piece of glass can be used as a 10/90 beam splitter.

In the US delivered 8's there appears to be no tinting on any of the windows except the sunroof. That appears to be about 35%. I've got 20% on the back (and back side windows) and 35% on the front side windows (I could have legally gone darker, but this mix will get by in most states). The 20 is dark enough to look black around the back. Darker really isn't necessary . . .

You can still see (barely) through the front sides with 35%. The tinting has helped the AC a bunch, and it dressed up the car nicely too.

Hmmmm.

Maybe I should apply for a ch. lic. and just get the limo tint. :D
