I had a similar issue at around 5k rpm. My valves move freely, so I replaced the vacuum solenoids that control the valves. It helped big time, but not 100%. Maybe because I used the cheapest solenoids I could find (Set of 3 for like 20 bucks, instead of one genuine one for 100+). Its not too difficult to do. Remove the upper intake manifold and they sit on the backside of it, plugged into a vacuum box.
The low coolant light appeared on my dash a few weeks ago. I immediately pulled off the highway and checked it. The coolant level was good and the engine temperature never increased. Thanks to forum I was able to identify the cause. I recently replaced the coolant reservoir and haven’t had another low coolant indication since. It didn’t take more than an hour or two. I will post a video that helped me below, the part number, and the website I got it from. Note: I did not have to drain all of the coolant. I just emptied enough out of the reservoir to prevent it from spilling. Caution: Be careful taking off the hoses not the tear or puncture them.
locking thread since it was originally a FS thread and while I encourage the sharing of experiences in solving certain issues, this probably isn't the right thread for it.
