Oh cool! I'm glad someone else from the forum will be there.
We're staying at the Sheraton in Burlingame friday night, so however long it takes us to have breakfast and get there is when I'll be there. I want to make it there by 1:00.

I went to Rev-it-Up. Haven't been to zzl. My brother and nephew went last year and had a blast. He (nephew) got to do something I've never done - bring an RX-8 up to the beep.
Maybe on Saturday.
The drive on Saturday morning from Burlingame shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully you have good directions. Local traffic (jam) can be a zoo on Friday nights.

The drive should be ok since we won't be getting there until kind of late. Our youngest has a costume birthday party to go to and the oldest a H.S. football game.
I have the directions mapquested from Burlingame to Alameda point. I think I'll be alright.
I'm looking forward to testing their cars out.

Weather was surprisingly warm at the event this morning.
I suggest visitors first head left and drive an RX-8 or MX-5 at the far end. You can do this twice on an easy course that isn't timed. At the start a guy will peek inside to make sure you didn't disable DSC. It's easy enough to push the button after you take off though.
On the opposite end (far right of the entrance) is the Mazdaspeed6 challenge. That is a timed event and they are okay with people turning of DSC if you want. The car sounds interesting (AWD, 270hp turbo motor) but actually driving it the car felt sluggish. Turn-in is slow as well and you have to do it before reaching the slalom cone or it will be too alte.
On that course, you start, go through a hairpin, a quick left and then a slalom. Stay on the far left of that quick left or you'll be in terrible position for the slalom. I did a 42.3 (plus one small cone) when the target was 43.0 seconds.

I drove my 8 up to Alameda with a friend today. We got there around 11:30AM. I wish we had chose an earlier time. The wait times were long especially for the Mazdaspeed 6 challenge. We waited about 45-50 minutes for a 46 second drive (in my case). The time to meet or beat was 43. Those poor 6s have been beat up. The tires seem pretty worn out and some of those clutches have born the brunt of lousy drivers. The CX-7 challenge was seeing if you could be 12" away from certain pylons (stupid). The 3rd course was a to drive and see if you could match a 27 seconds with various Mazdas of your choice.
Supposedly there are prizes for certain points, but it seemed like they were just giving out a free XL Mazda t-shirt at the end. Food was pretty much a limited variety roach coach.
They did have the new hard-top MX-5 there that they were showing the new top mechansim. Very sweet. Ingenious design.
Cars you can drive: RX-8, MX-5 Miata, CX-7, Mazda 3, Mazda 6 and Mazda 5.
Enjoyed the event. Wish the wait times weren't so long.
Had a killer dinner at Cesar later that night though. Yummy tapas.

I was pretty disappointed in ZZL. The cars didn't drive very well. The RX-8 didn't drive like our RX-8 at all. I think my time was 45.4. We had 3 in the MS6. My friend got it sideways
after the sharp right at the far end.
We had 5 in the car for the target hunt. I did well on that - the other 4 drivers missed most of the targets.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet any of you.

You should have tried it with 5 people in the car! There were a couple of good points. It was the only course that was run counter clockwise. Also, the timing range allowed you to focus on a clean line (and hitting the targets).
Actually, I thought the CX-7s were the least abused vehicles out there.

However, it did nothing to promote the CX-7. Woohoo I can or cannot get 12" from a yellow pylon. Not sure how that translates to CX-7 driving dynamics or sales.
The fourth RX8/MX5 course was fun, but after driving the AT 8, I dont' know why people waited so long to drive the manuals. The course basically was driven in 2nd gear after going through first. The manumatics allow you to get to 2nd and leave it there.
