What is the fine in California for...
unsafe lane change... :o
I was on my way home from work on the 101 and this kid in a Honda keeps riding my bumper and trying to get me to race...all the while my radar detectector is going off intermittantly, so I know there's a CHP in the area. I shift into the fast lane to pass a big rig (doing 55 in a 65) when I notice my exit coming up. I clear 3 car lengths ahead of the rig and exit from the fast lane to lose the kid. I lost the kid, but the CHP was 4-5 car lengths back and nailed me. It turns out he was initially after the kid in the Honda, but I guess my new 8 looked more appealling than the retro-fitted Honda. :D
Anybody know what the fine is for this violation? All I've ever gotten was a speeding ticket in the SVT and that was just recent enough to rule out traffic school...
Thanks, Art

The only ticket I've received in all my years in CA was one for driving at dusk with only my parking lights...A-Hole Cop gave me a $180 Ticket (at Davis, CA). It is my understanding that tickets here cost a lot more than in other states. It's funny that you were the one pulled over. I was doing 80 in San Jose with my 8 when a Camry sped by me doing ~85, but the CHP chose to go after him. I attributed it to my new car! Good luck on your ticket. Maybe you can find some way to fight it in court?
The only other ticket I received was for speeding in Ohio, I was doing 78 in a 60MPH freeway. The cop was cool, and he felt bad for giving me a ticket (he had to be "fair" since he also pulled over the car behind me). I looked at the ticket and almost bust out laughing in his face since it was only $60. ONE of the shoes I had on my feet was more expensive than that.

Whatever happened to "Expect more, Payless". I can't believe how much people spend on their shoes. Some people buy them, wear them a few times, then store them. I don't think I've ever owned more than 2 pairs of tennis shoes and a pair of dress shoes at any one time.

must just be the kids in So Cal
I only have a $30 pair of Skechers flip-flops, and one pair of real shoes in case I go out of town where it's cold
I'm curious to know too, since I recently got a ticket for "driving the wrong way on the road" (I cut over about 10-15 feet too soon for a left turn lane because the traffic was gridlocked). I used my NY license on that ticket and I have since gotten a CA one, so I may be able to skate by...

but things like rolling through a stop sign, unsafe lane change, minor speeding are usually 140 ballpark from what i can gather about the tickets i have gotten and the ones people i've known have gotten.
