west covina mazda
I just had my car at West Covina Mazda on Monday afternoon for my air bag recall work. I was thinking in going to Browning in Cerritos but because I work nearby I called ahead of time to make an appointment and to my surprise (Remy) the service writer said just come on here and we will take care of it.
Once there, he checked my recalls to confirm if I just needed that service. No problem he said, and of course I mentioned that my car once in a while takes longer to start 4 to 5 seconds before the engine kicks in. He mentioned that I may need hotter spark plugs and he said that is the only way to solve flooding. (I didn’t buy that) I believe that the just to decrease the chances.
I didn’t mentioned to him but so far after owning my 8 since the beginning of January, I only have 2 incidents of long crank but not flooding (hopefully it will keep that way).
After the service (1 1/2 hours later, including a car wash) Remy told me that the tech checked the plugs and they are fine and he did not felt that I needed the hotter plugs since I haven’t flooded the engine so he just reflashed the PCM with the latest calibration.
After signing the paperwork, I took my car into a near parking lot and did the 20 pump test and indeed my oil needle swept to the middle and the back so I must have the L at least. M calibration? maybe since I have been reading around that is already out. I am in the process in finding out from Remy. Yes, they did not break my clove compartment dampener. I can see just a small mark in the pin most likely from the screw driver per the procedure.
So, at the end I am really happy with their services.

I also brought my car into west covina. I had long cranking problems also. To fix that, they actually said I had a bad battery and replaced it with a good one. Not sure will that help the cranking, but changing a new battery is still good.
