Visiting LA

I'm going to be in LA over the 4th of July weekend (arrive late on the first, leave midday on the 5th) to visit my ex-girlfriend. I'm flying, so the '8 is staying home. However, I was wondering if anything was going on at any point during the weekend that would be of interest to a 23 year old rotary enthusiast (e.g. meets, events, etc).

Thanks for the info.

There are several locations for the monthly meets on the first saturday of the month. I'm not sure where would be the nearest location for you. Where will you be?

Never saw "The O.C." I don't watch TV very often. But I'm fully aware of stereotypes (and, generally, ignore them). I live in Alabama. I know what stereotypes are like. BTW, I do have shoes, there are more paved roads than dirt roads, and I've done my best to eliminate my Southern accent from my speech.

I spent alot of time traveling, esp. stays in Colorado. I eventually got sick of taking **** for my accent. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's alot better than most people here.

Anyway, I'll shoot for the O.C. meet, then.

robertdot,

Don't worry if you have a southern accent. I don't know if you are aware of this, but here in southern California, we have what is called Riverside and San Bernardino counties. You should feel right at home in either of these counties. No need at all to go up to northern California for home away from home. Yes, we really do have everything here in the SoCal.

Well, that works out. I've been seriously thinking about moving out there. I'll be testing the waters. My first, albeit short, experience in LA left a less than desirable impression. BUt with about 5 days, I hope to check out more than just metro LA and Hollywood.

Thew,

I would put up our best representatives from the Inland Empire (aka Riverside and San Bernardino counties) against ANY person you can dish out from Kern County (or anywhere else in northern California), I don't care if you got them straight out of Deliverance!

I dare you to send a search team out into the deepest regions of Indian reservation/desert/casino-game land in areas such as Beaumont, and I hope they make it back alive. Alabama, Louisiana, and North Carolina ain't got NOTHING on us!

I don't know.. the 909/Inland Empire area is pretty dang awful. It's like going to a ghost town with nothing to see or do. It's the part of the town where you drive past to get to Las Vegas as fast as possible.

But No Cali is pretty boring too, compare to LA/OC that is. It's clean and quiet.. for that nice relaxing sleepy type environment... but to trully live a little, we got the "Gangsta" areas, the "Rich snobby" areas, the "Wannabe Rich Ricer areas" etc... all in the same vicinity for your entertainment. LA/OC is where it's at.

/endsarcasm :P

Just for information sake, when is the next meet? I would like to check out the 8's at the meet and see what people are into.

Perhaps we can also bring out a kit or two for people to see first hand.

I'd contemplated contacting you about checking out the kit while I was in town. If you come to the meet (I guess the OC meet, since that is the one I think I'll be checking out), that would streamline things for me a bit. In other words, I support your effort. :D
