Found this very helpful, don't know how old it is though

edit: MS cai, RB test pipe, HKS Hi-Flow
While we're on the topic, anyone know the punishment for no Cat converter? A friend has assured me that its a fix-it ticket however basedon what others have said I'm not so sure... Any documentation on this? I picked up the pipe for a steal which is the main reason I got it and wow this system seems loud...

FYI......you can be inpounded for 30 days and sent to the smog ref if you are caught in CA without a cat on ANY car made after 1976 or 77 not sure which year. I have had a few friends with Fc's and a FD that got fucked by the man. BE CAREFUL!!! So get a shitty cat and gut it, them run a "test pipe" though the middle of the cat so from the outside it looks legal.

Thanks for the info, I kind of thought it'd be impounded...
check out these bulletins:

obviously, since they're from the dmv, i would imagine that they're pretty accurate
