How have you been bro? Life treating you well?

Work hours aside, I'm doing pretty damn good. My little godson (4) had his very first T-ball game on Saturday, talk about comedy! Watching little kids all chase after the same baseball was hilarious and exactly what I needed after the last two stressful weeks I've had.

only downside to my weekend was I think I seriously jacked up my knee. It's definitely sprained / hyperextended but I'm thinking I might have done something to the ACL.
I should have gotten it looked at Saturday but I hate hospitals so unless I'm dying, I'm not going to one. I'll get it looked at by an Ortheopedic later this week if it doesn't get better. I'm a tough cookie though so we'll see..

Jedi: Watching little kids play sports is always hilariously entertaining! How did you hurt your knee? Hospitals suck, but I've been to them so many times that they it no longer fazes me to go.

I tore my ACL. Try this test for the acl. Sit down and bend your leg at a 90. With the heel of your foot try to pull it t'ward you, like your in a rolling chair and trying to drag yourself around. If you have a bad/ damaged ACL you will know it. Or you can have someone grab your lower leg right below the knee and give it a tug away from you.

I was looking for a store that I had located on my GPS. Unfortunatly to get there, we had to drive through a toll. A mile after the toll is where the store was suppose to be located. Ended up being a shipping warehouse for who knows what. To get back to the apartment, I had to come back the same way we came and pay the toll again. $4 each way.

basketball.
I grabbed a rebound up near the rim, collided with a guy mid air and came down off balance on one leg. Knee gave way partially, I heard a grind / pop, and I went man down.
I'm walking around today (which is more then I could do Saturday and most of yesterday) so I didn't tear it, most likely just stretched the hell out of the ligaments which is why my knee has more lateral movement right now then it normally should. If there is a tear (which I'm hoping there isn't), it's a small tear that I can probably rehab.

can you tell I've had knee injuries in the past?

yeah, watching those kids was beyond hilairous. My little godson was out in right field but no matter WHERE the ball got hit, he was running as fast as he could to get it. (and usually beating the other kids to the ball) After the 1st inning, they moved him to pitcher so he could get to the ball even faster.

Funny side story: One of my best friends is the godparent to the older brother of my godson who was also playing his first game. My buddy being the huge Yankee fan that he is, showed up sporting a NY hat, only to find out that his godson was playing for the RED SOX.
he was so pissed.
he refused to say "go Red Sox!" Instead he'd say, "go Team Red!"

Jedi: Sounds painful man. Basketball is hell for the knees. Hopefully it is nothing major. So you've had some knee injuries in the past I presume?

yeah, I tore almost all of my meniscus out of my left knee when I was in High School.
Note to self: when playing basketball against a big, goofy, and mostly un-coordinated guy, do NOT cross him over and then try attempt a spin move on him while driving down the lane.
That idiot will step on your foot right as you go to spin on him. The problem is, you won't know he stepped on your foot so you'll attempt your spin move as your foot is being smashed by this Ogre which means your body will spin but your leg won't go anywhere!

This typically results in a dislocated knee and no more meniscus.

Jedi: Ouch, sounds painful!!

Jess: You mean about how it took us over an hour to get to a mall which was less than 20 minutes away??? At least it was nice out and a scenic drive. But, we had no luck in finding that store.

Total, was about an hour and a half of our lives and $8 in tolls on top of the other normal tolls. Plus, no, we never found the store...

oh gawd - torn ACL stories

socal: yeah, that's what my trainer called 'the drawer test' where they pull on the lower part of your leg/calf (below the knee). If it slides out slightly then you are in for some bad news.
