Go to NeptuneSpeed in Huntington Beach, they're a rotary shop that many of us have used over the years and they'll be able to quickly trouble shoot the CEL.
Also, as an added bonus, there is a smog shop directly next door so after they trouble shoot the code, you know where to take your car.

keep in mind, after they clear the CEL, if it stays off (something fixable), you'll have to complete a few complete drive cycles before you can do the smog test. (CA Emissions requires a certain amount of drive cycles after clearing a CEL)
