id love to man but its ****** far! and palm springs is alot closer then Temecula is.
but ya, if i lived closer id go. but i cant afford the gas considering when on the freeway my 8 just likes to burn through gas at around 80mph. **** sucks

are anyone elses rx8s like that to, like around 4,000 to 5,000 rpm in 6th gear?
at around 80mph....

Keep it below 3750 rpm. (secondary injectors blah blah blah)
The difference between 70mph and 80mph is HUGE in the mileage

Driving fast is reserved for the track.
"spirited" cruises through the canyons have little or no traffic, but them trees can be a bitch if you lose control

I work on Talbert and Brookhurts, I live in Cypress though.

I usually cruise PCH at lunch if im bored and not hungry lol and then come back up through main street back to work.

My other buddy PhatmanRx7 works there too, has a sick 7 hes been workin on for a few years now.

But yah dude we should set up something and all meet up, that would be fun. We know of this great burger joint that sells 99 cent burgers on Yorktown and Brookhurst. We usually go there for lunch cos its nice and cheap :D

P.S. my 8 is an 04 AT BB, Only mod so far is HKS exhaust. Ill keep an eye out for you when im around the area.

whats up guys, new here..just picked up a 2008 sport yesterday. i also have a WRX and the rx8 is a refreshing change overall, though it could really use some help in the power department. :P
i am looking forward to seeing what it can do on the track over at willow. if anybody attends speedtrial events, let me know.

well your not going to get the power you can get out of a wrx or sti.

but you can get a good amount of power in the rx8,
take care of your engine by the way, change oil alot, check it and dont run it hard untell ,5,000 or more miles,

iv seen some rx8s push low 400hp
but typical hp for the 8 is around 320 to 350hp with a turbo,
(not greddy turbo) that turbo gives you a very little gain, stock power is 230hp and with greddy turbo its like 280hp! ahahhaha

if your looking to turbo the 8 dont go with greddy,

for intakes they dont really do much, the mazdaspeed one is nice tho!

exhaust, its all up to how you want the tone of your car, but mines a custom piped 4" exhaust. i got a 11hp gain out of that.

suspension, i would say anything but tein, im not a fan! ahhah
i would also just go with adjustable coilovers not springs.

what else would you wanna be doing to the 8?

hey man..thanks for the info
my wrx eats up quite a bit of oil also,,so consumption is something i'm used to. this break-in period is going really slow for me cause i'm just used to way more torque and right now i can't really rev the car ;p ...but going back to a NA car is always a fun thing. i know there isnt' much for big power other than turbo, but something i'd definitely consider after the warranty is up.
other options i saw, noticed cobb just released an application for the rx8 with their AP-- while it looks promising cobb has a very long history with the subaru community when their AP first came out for the imprezas... something i wouldn't want to jump on right away, but keeping my eye on (tho i do have the AP stage 2 map on the wrx...)... so far i guess it's just exhaust, maybe going catless, though are there issues with this car deleting the cats (other than pulling the o2 CEL?)
suspension-wise, i have to test the 8 out over at a track day, most likely coming may at streets of willow. and make my decisions from there. thanks for the advice ,maybe ill see you guys around at track days or a meet.

i havent heard any problems with people going catless with the rx8, other then its really loud! ahhah
most of the power in the rx8 comes around 4,000rpm.
mazdaspeed has some stuff you can do to the motor without messing with the warranty. i could hook you up with megan adjustable coilovers for the rx8 for a really good price! i have them on my rx8 and i love them!

so what kinda power are you looking for in the rx8? cause you can always do a motor swap and do the 20b 3 rotor in there! iv seen people pushing high 600s with that motor sometimes more!

20b's are hard to come by tho.

as long as you keep the rx8 all rotor power then your cool! ahahh

swapping a piston motor in a rx8/rx7 is completely stupid in my part. rx8/rx7's are for rotary engines, they how they were built! not for piston! ahahha

you can always find your way around getting good power a rx without a turbo!

Put the "go fast" money in to your WRX.

Put the handling money in to the RX8
