Showoff Classic

If anyone is interested in coming by the show and checking out some of the hotest imports around we'll be there in full force with our Project RX8 as well as our Project EVO and WRX.

The nation’s premiere import auto show hits Southern California for this years final SHOWOFF Classic, where the “Best of the Best” come to face off. Mainstream Productions presents the Showoff Classic to be held at the Pomona Fairplex on December 13, 2003.

This is the place where the top-notch show cars come out one last time before the show season ends. It will also feature categories, such as the Novice Class, plus more trophies and cash prizes. This event features all the excitement you’ve come to expect plus more. Competitors will be able to compete in separate classes in order to provide more competition and for more chances to win trophies and cash prizes. These classes will be: EXC Class, Novice Class, and Amateur Class.

The EXC CLASS pits the "Best of the Best" show cars against one another. These cars have proven themselves by winning the top honors in previous SHOWOFF events. They will be awarded 1st to 10th place, in which the overall winner is awarded the coveted EXC SHOWOFF CUP.

The NOVICE CLASS offers competitors a chance to win trophies and prizes in numerous different categories.
The TOP honors in the NOVICE CLASS are:
SHOWOFF AUTO - $1,000
CUSTOM SHOWOFF AUTO - $500
PERFORMANCE SHOWOFF AUTO - $500

CATEGORIES FOR 2003 - By popular demand we have added new awards for:
MAZDA SHOWOFF, HONDA SHOWOFF, ACURA SHOWOFF, TOYOTA SHOWOFF, NISSAN SHOWOFF, DSM SHOWOFF, EURO TUNING SHOWOFF, JDM SHOWOFF, OLD SCHOOL SHOWOFF, TRUCK SHOWOFF, SPORT CAR SHOWOFF and the new SCION SHOWOFF.

Plus, categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies in the:
HONDA CLASS, ACURA CLASS, MAZDA CLASS, NISSAN CLASS, TOYOTA CLASS, DIAMOND STAR CLASS, BMW CLASS, LEXUS CLASS, SPORT IMPORT (Other) CLASS, SPORT COMPACT (Domestic) CLASS, EUROPEAN CLASS, OLD SCHOOL CLASS, and the new BOX CLASS.

For this event there will be no AMATEUR CLASS due to the fact that SHOWOFF CLASSIC is presenting the Best of the Best.

We also encourage teams to participate for not only for trophies and cash prizes, but for team PRIDE!
Team SHOWOFF and Team REPRESENT awards presented by BOMEX
Team SHOWOFF - $2000 in BOMEX aero parts
Team Represent - $1000 in BOMEX aero parts

I just got back from the show. Lots of nice paint jobs. Lots of highly modded FWD's. Lots of LOUD (I suppose you call it) music. A couple of shops showing their wares (couldn't find Vivid Racing, but I think they were there). A couple of RX-7s and a couple of RX-8s. All-in-all, not worth the $19, the overblown security at the entrance, and above all, the TWO BLODDY HOUR WAIT AT THE ENTRANCE for those of us who arrived at noon (when it was SUPPOSED to start. Hell, I'd rather meet up with some of y'all at a restaurant or tavern and have a burger or a beer (or both!) and check out each other's cars. I'd spend less money and see more 8's!
As always, YMMV.

yea that show was pretty crappy, I helped my members in my team setup and stuff. I met the owner of the RX-8 from vividracing and we talked and stuff, but it was very disorganized and did not begin at 12pm when it was supposed to. However I was at the venue from 6am until about 10:30 am... fun huh! nooo. But I got to ride in a modded Porsche 996 TT and watched a model reveal some skin... *wink wink* and body parts ur not supposed to see... haha! But I did get to see a s2000 crash before the show and total itself...

Damn! I wanted to see VR's RX-8 at the show. I saw it going in from the parking lot, but couldn't find it inside. I guess that'll teach me not to be on time.:D But I don't think I'll go back to any show that has tighter "security" than an airport! I had to leave all my pocket knives at the security checkpoint, even the tiny one on my keyring -- after walking back to my 8 to lock up my sidearm (I have a permit to carry it) in the trunk ('boot' to my friends who speak the Queen's English better than I). And then I set off the metal detector -- I finally figured out what set it off: the metal wires that are still in my chest after the heart surgery!
I think going to a race track or drag strip would be MUCH more fun.
Hey, Mikeb -- Too bad we didn't meet up. One of these days, eh?

the security is tight because I couple of years ago someone got stabbed at a import show.

I guess they feel better safe than sorry
Import shows are the only place it doesn't pay to be on time
Trust me I've waited in those lines before

That only happened at HIN, and more violance happens at HIN then any other type of car shows, since they are gettho, late at night, and cater to a younger and more immature crowd. And yes, paying to get into a car show is so lame. Your better off walking around the parking lot. Just as many cars and almost the same ****.
