Now that I have my new 8, I was selling my Miata via AutoTrader.com. An offer came from a Saudi Arabian buyer. His agent would send me a "cashiers check" for more than the purchase price. He asked me to refund the added money by way of Western Union.

This is a major scam. You should Google for "cashiers check, fraud". You will find tons of info about how cashiers checks are worthless and your bank will take funds back after a few weeks.

I was warned of the scam by another buyer for my car.

Don't let anyone use this ploy against you or your freinds.

That's good advise. It's sad to see those people will try anything to scam our honest earned money!

 

Even if you didn't understand the ins and outs of cashiers checks, that immediately sounds iffy.
