Saw red and titanium RX8's in Santa Barbara
I was in downtown Santa Barbara with my titanium RX8 on Sunday, December 14. Beautiful place to cruise around in an 8.
I was parked off the street in front of the Courthouse when a guy in a red 8 passed right by me as I said nice car to him. He had an embarrassed smirk.
While I was walking around the shops, a titanium 8 passed by on State Street.
Was it any of you guys?

I'm hoping to add to the numbers in a new Titanium really soon. Wife and I live in Oxnard but make it up to SB quite regularly (it's a really nice town). Say hi if you see us.

I actually live in Los Angeles. Just drove 2 friends in my RX8 to Santa Barbara. It was my first continuous long drive in my 8. I had looked forward to the opportunity for a while, and it was great.
We took the 10 to Santa Monica, then PCH. PCH was beautiful as it began to rain lightly. Lots of cars just cruising. Porsche Boxster in front of me (my car looked better, of course). Then cut north to the 101.
UCSB campus was awesome. I had no idea that it is ACTUALLY beachfront. There is a road on campus that is narrow and winding. It becomes a dirt road eventually. When it did, I did a U-turn and headed back. That's when I really let it rip. The RX8 is absolutely incredible on roads like that. TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING, as my two female passengers agreed.

Why embarrassed? maybe he thinks he don't deserve the 8.

Just last night I was at the mall and another titanium went right past my car in the mall access road. We just looked at each other. I felt kind of uneasy, kind of odd. You know what I mean?
The only other thing I can think of is that guy knew that my titanium looks better than his red.

The PCH makes for an awesome drive. You drove right past my "office" (I work at Point Mugu NAS). Even though it detours and rejoins the 101 in Oxnard for a stretch before finally becoming its own road well up north, the PCH is fantastic trip come springtime.
Incidentally, I know exactly what you mean about UCSB. My wife just graduated from there a couple weeks ago; but since I've been out of the country for several stints totalling over a year and a half since 2001, I had never actually seen the campus until about 2 months ago. I told her, "So this is where our money's been going? No wonder you haven't minded making the drive up here everyday!" We're pretty much convinced the only way a college campus could be any worse would be to go to Pepperdine in Malibu.
