Cool San Fernando Valley RX8 Ownersn your insight is appreciated

GOod evening, I hope you all find yourself well.

I have a few questions regarding the RX8 for any owner who knows this car pretty well.

Ive had some issues with my 8 today that's upsetting me and I want to know if anyone else on here has had the same issues?

I live in North Hollywood, and a storm just moved in drenching us with water

THis morning on the way to work, my hazard lights started blinking although the button for them was not activated, I couldn't turn them off and eventually they turned off on their own.

As I locked the car with my key remote and activated the alarm, my TRUNK popped open, so I closed it and the alarm started to ring. I unlocked the car and locked it again with the remote and the truck popped open . I used the key this time to lock the car, made sure the trunk didn't pop open and walked into work.

As I left work hours later, my car didn't want to turn on.

It would just click, we tried jump starting it and NO LUCK.
We push started it, and BINGO.

I kept hearing a buzz coming in and out, and the hazrd lights turned on and wouldn't turn off.

We proceeded to disconnect the fuse for the hazards, however we could hear a click or an.. "errrh" very faintly popping in and out.

My manager, a car guy, yet as knowledgeable as me (1-10 on mechanincs) a 2..lol.. maybe 1..

anyways, he stated that something short circuited because of the rain, something must be exposed or the water caused a short circuit.

we believe its an issue with the alarm since that's what happened to me last time as well, and the horn/hazrads go off like crazy when the alarm is on.

So can somebody please help me, have any of you ad this issue before.

PRIMARILY< i need to know how can i DISABLE the factory alarm? I cant seem to find a fuse for it, and I would like to disable it so it doesn't drain my battery, for the time being I disconnected the battery....

Can somebody please help me?, or recommend me to someone who can in this area?

THank you so much

if your still under warranty you can go to galpin mazda on Roscoe blvd by the 405
seems to be a short somewhere. just be careful of water because some roads may be a bit flooded, especially in lower-lining streets. dont want to cause any more damage

Yea i trust what he says as well because i live up here in sylmar.

Galpin mazda would be your safest bet especially to get the job done properly the first time so you dont need to keep dealing with these problems.

Thx Guys

Hey gentlemen thank you for your help.
My vehicle is an 05 Mazda Rx8
With 30,000 miles.
I've been having a few issues with it, but nothing major.

Would it still be under warranty?

thats something the dealer could look up for you, they only need your VIN number to verify if its still under warranty. If it's not under warranty, then you can always check yourself by starting off with the small things. Fuses, electrical wires, check for corrosion or shorts. Good luck.

For the horn, I believe it's a relay, not a fuse.
