Last I heard the unemployment rate for Orange County was 8% 
I have a friend who's been job hunting for a month & he hasn't found anything yet. So.. Depending on what you're lookin for you're gonna have a tough time. I'd stick with the job even though its prolly shitty.

I hate to say this cuz I like you ... but depending on what you were hoping to be promoted to, your response to not being promoted probablly confirmed their decision was right. That is no dig against ya but managers want to promote people that handle things well even when they don't go the way that person wants. They also want to promote people that make them look compitent. The last thing they want is to promote someone and then have the other managers think they were stupid for doing so.

Screw work, 40 hours/week + 16 units at UCI. Thusfar I'm averaging 3 hours of sleep a night (asside from sunday mornings) which really cannot be healthy.
On the upside, $$$$$!

in retrospect i realize i could've handled things better - but how they went about it (not telling me they gave the promotion to an under qualified jerk til AFTER they gave him the office.) just got to me - i received no notice that i was denied - i had to go to my HR manager to find out, which was stupid because i stayed in my manager's ear about it all the way up til' they announced it - and they led me to believe i still had a shot...
iono, i probably did overreact - but eh...i guess i feel i've been around too long dealing with their crap that i didn't want to put up with it any more...
