Soooooo, Whats everyone doing either Wednesday or Thursday morning? I was thinking of taking a trip up to Idllwild and was looking for people to roll with. I know it's kind of far but I'm going regardless. I need to get out. I'll shift my day depending on if anyone wants to roll and when they are available. Lemme know.

The Route starts in Hemet/Valle Vista and takes the 74 and 243 all the way up.

so whose gonna join us in Vegas for WhiV 5 ?
For those who haven't gone before, this is a meet that started 5 years ago as a little bbq and birthday celebration with a few friends and has now grown to a huge annual meet.

Phil has negotiated some sweet room rates:

Here's my picture thread from last year:
https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/what-happens-vegas-4-pics-jedi-edition-217226/

we usually all drive out together friday morning if you guys are interested, I'm sure I'll throw up a thread once we get closer to the date.

Alright party people....We really need to get a cruise going. I had the opportunity to take a drive up to Idyllwild this morning and all I can say is WOW. The curves on that stretch of road are freaking amazing! I can honestly say I've never driven a more fun section of road. And, the scenery is beautiful up there, seriously, beautiful. I managed to snap a few pics while I was up there. I got some pretty funny looks as people drove by and I'm getting all low taking pictures of my 8.

I'm up for pretty much anything. We can head to a restaurant for realz this time or we can take a drive somewhere. I wouldn't recommend the Idyllwild drive for a meet on Wednesday, it takes a couple hours to get there and up and down. I'll start looking for some local roads if you guys want to do a cruise. Let's get a consensus among everyone and then go from there.

Corona meet

I just took a drive around Lake Matthews this weekend, a little curvy, decent drive. Just kind of short for a drive. I don't know of any other winding roads around

Have you guys considered a cruise on Ortega hwy?
there's a great mexican restaurant in Lake Elsinore called Las Palmas where you could have lunch/ dinner afterwards.

I have a buddy who used to live in Elsinore so we'd hit up Ortega from time to time.
That restaurant is a Little whole in the wall but its cheap and good.

Ive done ortega in my Z. It was a lot of fun, except when you were stuck behind some really slow cars. Its a scary ride too, some of those cliffs are STEEP.

How about at midnight, where you get the thrill out of this car...? Now come back and let us know how scary that is

I think it would be insane amounts of fun if the road were entirely closed so I could use the oncoming lanes as well...but it is just downright scary in some parts, especially those with no rails!

yeah, it's ton of fun until you get stuck behind some slow ***.
I took Ortega a few months ago to get to a buddy's wedding (in temecula) and had exactly that happen to me.
Fortunately it was more tolerable in my bimmer then in the 8 in slow traffic.

if you guys want a Big Bear run, I'll keep you posted. Been talking with some of the San Bernardino guys into doing another Big Bear run before all the snow shows up.

midnight Ortega Run = BAD idea.
I prefer early morning runs when there aren't as many soccer moms (or cops) on those roads.
