Cool My 4th of July trip to SoCal

Well, my GF and I are planning a trip to to SoCal for the the 4th of july fireworks at Disney. While I've been searching and planning as much as I can to avoid stressful situations. I was thinking if anyone alse if up for this or if you guys can give me some "insider tips" or give the scoop on "must stop spots and attractions". I was also thinking of trying to meet with some of the folks in SoCal, so I'm gonna look up your location. Help is much appreciated...

I'm going down Friday the 29th. What exactly do you need? Places to hang out? Roads? Places to avoid?

Long beach the pike is a nice place. Show off your car in San Gabriel. Hit up Hollywood & Highland. Swing by racing beat and get the RB flash. Irvine Spectrum, the block, there are tons of places. How long are you going to be out there for?

There are some great roads in Malibu. A local will have to give you the details though. Stop at Duke's along the beach for a drink afterwards.

Get your girlfriend some Pinkberry. You will like it too it's great.

Go to Brennan's in Marina Del Rey on thursday night for turtle racing.

If you're staying around OC a lot Laguna Beach is really pretty and worth spending a couple hours at.

I'm going down for the 4th as well. Actually I moved up to the bay from LA a year and a half ago and my gf is still down there, so I'm there all the time.

I'm taking my camera for sure and hopefully I'll get new lenses before I go. I should get a new memory card also.

I'll be in the area too.

I just sent you a really long PM, but I must stress, safety first! Make sure your car preparation is top notch, all your fluids are full, your oil is new, and your tire pressure is set. Bring some water with you, you'll need it.

Hey if you're lookin' for a guide i think i could help you out...

I basically live under the damn fireworks ...and i pretty much know all the local joints fairly well...

If you wanna stay local - and plan on staying around central orange county for the weekend - check out the block on chapman and state college or the irvine spectrum right off the 405. - night time joints - Ten Asian in irvine (jap food/lounge), the main street strip at night in huntington beach (tons of restaurants and people + nice environment) - yamashiro's in north hollywood for dinner if you want something more private

hell - if you drive your 8 down here i'd let you park at my place to save some cash! - most tourists usually try to but i end up pushing my trash can's to cover the curb haha - that's only if you drive your 8 though...haha

Thumbs down Watch Out!

watch out for those camera lights and hiding cops...

Anaheim is a pretty crappy city compared to the rest of orange county but the disney area is heavily patrolled - so watch the speeding...even on those long stretches on harbor (btw, <= $30 on harbor) there's cops sitting in that target parking lot and that joe's crab shack...

and watch the camera lights - not too many around the disney area but if you go towards brookhurst, every single light will have a flash camera...and they're pretty shady too...if you come up too fast and a little too close to the cross walk - it'll flash you...and i'm not talkin' the good kind

But will the money saved be enough to offset the extra you pay for fuel in taking the RX-8?
