I am thinking about buying an 2004 manual rx-8. I live in So-Cal.

I was wondering if anyone knew if mazda dealership would cover a checkup. Like under the warranty.

I want the rx8, since its used, to get a thorough check up. Like any recalls that the previous owned didn't take the car in for.

Or if not covered by warranty does anyone know how much a full checkup would cost? I would like to know what would need replacing and fixing or what will need replacing in the near future.

On the subject of maintenance, how reliable are the rx8's ? specifically the 2004.
Any day to day problems i should be worried about or keep an eye out for?

go with 2005-06 not as many problems

 

i never had a problem with my 04 at all..even after the turbo install...take that back..the foggy tail light..got it replaced..and no other problems after that

 

hmmm...well i never really had a problem with my 8 besides the ^^^ taillights (easy fix) and the powersteering...but thats an easy fix too...lol luckily for the 8 or not lucky (your opinion) mostly everythign is sensors so u can just unplug clean with electric cleaner and then plug back in and works perfect :D my girl is thinkin bout selling her 04 GT with nav and GT app. pkg lip kit (no front though) all stock lol..but iono ill see whats up
