Talking Love My RX-8

I just got my RX-8!! And I love it!! I was debating whether I should get a BMW 330ci, RX-8, Acura RSX, Nissan 350z, and Infinity G 35!! I test drove the BMW 330ci and the RX-8. When I first looked at the RX-8 in the pictures on the internet ...I was like ..it looks nice ...but when I finally saw it in person!! I just fell in Love!! **sigh** I thought ..I this car looks SO HOT!! =) And everyone has a BMW (my roomate just got a 2004 BMW-reason I didn't want one) ...350Z was only 2 seaters ..and barely any trunk space ....but I am glad I chose the RX-8!! This forum is great too!! I log into this forum every day ...reading everyone's post!! HI EVERYONE!! :D The rx-8 was my first car I bought!! I LOVE MY RX-8!! **sigh**

Glad that you love your 8.

Besides, you saved quite some $$ for not getting the 330.

I like your color too, VelocityRedRX8!! I will post some pics when I get a chance. Options I got (off the top of my head):
-Velocity Red
-Grand Touring Package
-18"rims
-black leather trimming
-xenon headlights(these are great at night)
-seat warmers
-A/C and heater (I know it's standard, but the old mustang, and jetta I use to drive did not have these working - grr)
-sunroof
-1-disc cd-player (thinking of modifying this and getting the mp3 playing ..and/or tape player...maybe modifying that so I can have an AUX input ..I really want an AUX input)
-side fender strakes
-clear side markers/winker (not on RX-8 yet - just ordered it)
-no spoiler YET (waiting for other styles to come out)
-Oh...and so hesitant to say ....I know I am gonna be chewed out by everyone for saying this ..Automatic transmission (**ducks**) ...don't throw tomatoes at me ...but was really debating on getting a 6 speed transmission ..but...I don't have the years of experience of driving a stick ...so I don't want to mess up my first car ...and I don't like shifting in bumper to bumper traffic ...and I go to San Francisco pretty often....so shifiting on hills is tricky.

Will post pics up soon ..still waiting for my side clear markers!!

how is the auto tranny? isnt the motor supposed to be tuned for more torque? might drive pretty nice.

i looked at basically the same cars. why didnt you like the 330i? thats a really nice car.

The auto tranny seems cool. I like it. I am still a lil shakey about the step-tronic shifter it has. Not sure if eats more gas? Or if the shifter is really OK for my car cause it is still a little new. (need to read more about it)

The 330ci, I really did like it. It was smooth driving, fast, really good handling, but my best friend just got a 325ci which looks really similar to the 330ci. And she got a silver one....which is one I wanted. It was also better for me financially for me to get the RX-8. And looks a lot cooler and sportyer!! And a BMW looks a lot more sophisticated ...and everyone seems to have them in the San Jose area. I can always get it later. The RX-8 seemed more fun to drive!! (and i get a lot more looks in it, even on the freeway!! - then when I was driving my best friends BMW)

rest assured, the rx8 doesnt just look sportier, it backs it up with excellent racing abilities (from autocrossing my 100% stocker). it will eat the 330's lunch in any autocross for example. i suspect the 350z cant beat it either, and the G35 coupe and rsx dont have a prayer.

we have a few people autocrossing their 8's in the bay area, which dont you join us? there's no better way to enjoy a car than to learn to drive it at the limit, and this is a really rewarding sports car to race. next event is oakland on 2 november.

i miss autocrossing... haven't done that in a long time.

want to go again but don't want to pay the annual fee because i don't go enough to justify it. I used to do it in my honda crx and the 91mr2.. those were the days...

too bad about ur rx8 being an auto

still a nice car though without a doubt!

perhaps I should attend the sunnyvale meeting to see more rx8's. so far, the rx8 sighting for me is at a lowly zero.

Congrats on your Red 8, I'm kinda fond of it too!! I read your post of painting calipers the G2 products are easy to use and have had no discoloration. Attached is my baby.

Just a quick story about a new BMW 330ci owner, my RX-8 and me.

I was buying some Zaino from a local distributor when another guy came in. We all started talking about our car experiences, and when I told them that I just got an RX-8, the BMW owner's eyes opened wide and he got all excited. He asked me if he could see it, and after a few minutes of inspecting my RX-8, he said, "Man, I'm starting to re-think my purchase." He had bought his 330ci just a few weeks ago. The way he said it, though, was great. I could hear all the regret in his voice! I didn't have the heart to tell him that buying the RX-8 probably would have saved him $10,000, too.

BMW's are great cars, but these days, especially in Southern California, they're a dime a dozen.

I'm with you--the RX-8 is definitely a better pick over the BMW 330.
