$250 is really pricey. It should take them about an hour, maybe 2 at the most to swap out a cat back. I heard Galpin was pretty good.

yeah - you dont need to take the bumper off to do anything with the exhaust. I did my own racing beat exhaust in about 30 minutes just with some ramps. All you need to do is take off the exhaust shrouds really, unbolt exhaust, take off the rubber hangers, put new exhaust in and reverse the process. Easy a pie. If I was physically unable to do such a thing, i wouldnt pay someone more then 40 or 50 bucks to do it at a shop.

If you want to drive down to Santa Ana, Rotor Reliability said they would do a cat back install for about $100.

Maybe someone can host an exhaust install party. I would be interested and this would push me to get a new RB exhaust too.

Do it yourself without having to remove the bumper for free.... takes about 30 minutes if you're taking your sweet time and just likes gawk at all the dirt underneath your car. It's really not "That" difficult with RX-8.

the "hardest" part might be those damn rubber mounts. Just make sure you lube them up and you'll be fine

they are the worst part for sure... use dishwashing liquid to lube them, not wd 40.

installation on both would be the same.....the aftermarket systems are all made to use the stock hanger locations...

You will have one "gaskets" to pull off the stock muffler, where it connects with the cat pipe. Be careful when prying it off....that is, if the used Greddy doesnt' already come with that "gasket"....check first before you pry anything off.
