Looking to pick up an Rx8 soon

MT fsho, and i have about 16-17k to spend. Not going to bother with anything above 35,000 miles either.

If any of you know of anyone selling then just give me a msg. I'll be looking to buy an 8 in late nov early dec.

Also, i know a bit on what to look for on cars in general but if you guys have any tips when it comes to what to look for on a used 8 then that would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be an active person on this forum and hopefully learn how to drift this thing and help teach what i can. Pleaseee dont flame me for this, i'm just trying to be unique here !

Ty !! <33

ic ic

And just curious but does 2250$ sound right for insurance on this car for an 18y/o whos never got a ticket or an accident ? was hoping it would be around 1800

Parents say i have to get mercury and its going to cost at LEAST 2250 to insure this car. This was just a quote however with me as the only driver. I was figuring that since my dad has a company car and can put the rx8 under his name that i would be able to just be insured under our wagon which only costs 450$ a year with it under my name while still being covered if i drove the rx8. ( or must i be under 18 ? )

Thanks for any further information on this !!

Edit:

Omgoodness lol, ok checked a few things and talked to my parents.. and got my actual quote from mercury and to be blunt, insuring the rx8 would only cost 250$ more a year then it would an 02 protege5 which is my older bros car. My father would be primary driver not me which changes everythingg !! wahhaa sorry but i was starting to think i would be spending all my work money on insurance instead of mods.

fyi last year we paid roughy $4000 in assurance with AAA for our 03 protege5 and my 04 rx-8. we both had accident in the year but neither were on our record, this year the prices woudl have been about $3800 with AAA. went switched to Farmers to be the same as our house. it is now about $3000 a year (i think) and if i went with mecury it would have been even cheaper.

ic, atm for our 02 protege5 and 07 jeep commander the insurance is 2400 a year.

Both of my parents have near perfect driving records from the time they first got their license though. Also we're in a good neighborhood if that changes anything.

Mercury is pretty cheap though, and our house isn't insured by it so we don't even get the extra 15% off.

Things are a bit different however since my older brother who is not so bright got a DUI raising our insurance by.. 4k a year ? lol

Still looking for 8's btw, seen alot on autotrader but its so hard to trust that site and i dont want to go checking cars throughout socal >_<.

Just cant wait for december to come rolling in !!!

FYI.....I pay about 120 bucks a month for insurance.....have a perfect driving record. This is an expensive car to insure....it is in the same insurance class as the A4 and IS...just as a reference point.

Actually it is the cheapest sports car to insure.

Try an S2000, GTI, EVO, etc..

The RX8 is not a sports car.....based on insurance models. The S2000 has 2 seats, and the GTI and Evo are supercharged/turbo'd. I was initially looking at the STi and EVo when I ended up with the 8....I couldn't afford the insurance on the STi or EVO even thought eh car payments were the same....

The RX8 gives you a sports car feel, without the feel in the popcket book.

You do realize that if (god forbid) you race your RX8 and total it or worse total somone else, if the insurance company finds out that your dad is not the primary driver that you'll have ZERO coverage... right?

I understand why people play the "my parents drive my tricked out car, not me" game, but it's a dangerous game to play.

Hmm i have not thought about it much but is that completely true ? My dad is showed to not owning a car since he drives a company one which is how he can be labeled as the primary driver and i as a secondary one or w/e you may call it. I would figure i would be covered if i was driving the car but maybe not. I'll have to ask my parents as well since things might be different with different insurance companies.

With these raising gas prices though I'm having my first ever second thoughts about the car however 3.35 here in cali where the gas isn't even as efficient mpg wise.

3.35, you're looking at the wrong prices man.....this car takes premium...especially in Cali cause our 91 isn't really that same as 91 around the country. 3.55 this morning when I filled up around my house....3.48 here at work...too bad I didn't fill up at work....

I drive 75 miles every day, back and forth to work. My gas bill is running over 300 bucks a month.

Hmm i have heard so much about whether or not to be going on 91 or 87.

Too many opinions on both, but from what i have concluded is that what matters most is the quality of the gas itself. Shell/Cheveron being the best of the handful of gas stations.

I can maybe see getting 91 during the summer though when the engines will be running hotter and more likely to have early detonation but during the winter/spring i'm not so sure.

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, dont want to be putting out false info here.
