Rasp: What happened to your car?

Secondary air pump failure..... at least that is what my canscan reported.

 

thank goodness for that canscan. Bummer about the car having problems though.

Did it juts decide not to run?

 

The car runs fine.


If you listen to your car when you start it on a cold morning, you'll hear a loud whinning for a minute or so. That noise is from the secondary air pump. This pump takes hot air from the exhaust and runs it into the intake manifold in order to help warm the engine faster.

So now my car takes longer to warm up. Other than the CEL, it runs normal.

 

When are you expecting to get it back?

 

I dropped it off at 7am yesterday. I called at 4:30 only to find out that they haven't touched it yet because they had work left over from friday. I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow.

I also have had some issues with the AC blowing burning hot air after about 20 minutes of use in the high fan setting.

So that second issue may add more time to the repair.

On a side note, the rental car has CVT. Talk about a trip to drive. I floor it and the tach goes to 6,000 rpm and does not move from 30mph to 90+.

Well, as of 5pm today Browning was still working on it. They said I should have it back tomorrow.

same place we have always met. top of ralph's roof. yea we got a bunch of other car groups going now, but it's a much better turn out that when it was just us 8s. haha.
