Cool Hi all! Guess what ?

You have another noob (nub)! On your hands lol.
Ill try to keep the nubness to a minimum.

Allow me to introduce myself, they call me Maya or maverick or yoda.

I am 22 and work for US Bank, so if anybody in the LA area is needing a a loan of any type just let me know! Helocs, , reserve lines, cc, auto loans, refi, mortgage, anything!

I am on break from school going back soon, and just been enjoying and learning from life these last few years.

@ 18 I got my 1st car, a nissan maxima, I LOVED IT! Best v6 in the world! VQ30de + it was a rare 5 speed, it got me into a lot of trouble as I racked up quite a few speeding tickets, I discovered the tuner world and my lil sedan was quick as hek!

I then discovered the canyons in my friends s2k, and so I purchased a 1987 mk1! Gorgeaus car, just beautiful, with PURPOSE! LIGHT, NIMBLE, MID ENGINE, AND RWD ! I FELL IN LOVE YET AGAIN, HAD 2 MISTRESSES AT ONE POINT, THEN I slipped up, I neglected the mr2 and got it taken away, I abused the maxima and ended up loosing it to an accident.

Then comes the mr2 spyder, always thought of it as a girly car, my ex in hs loved it but I never saw me driving one. Until a couple years ago I did, I mastered that baby! Like takumi and his '86, I took it to its limits, and due to a defect the engine blew. Warranty covered a new engine, sure I could have gotten a 2zz and dumped it in, as I dreamed, but it was time to move on, I do, and I WILL OWN ,ANOTHER MR2, but it will be a 1988 supercharged t top! ;D

I now own a 250cc ninja, and am the proud owner of a rcently acquired RX8!

So far, so happy, since their release in 2004 I've admired this sik car, I was promised the car should I graduate hs, but u know what I found a good deal and bought it myself

Anywyas, sorry for long unnecessary story, I came here to learn, contribute (once I learn) and meet some kool enthusiasts.

Right now I'm trying to figure out if this has a tape player as one button says tape/md.

I need to find out if I'm covered under mazda warranty.

And does it have an mp3 player, or jak connection, and how the hek can I permenantly shut off traction control ..

I don't mean to bother you with these noob questions, ill search tomorrow if I have time.

Y'all have a good day ! And looking forward to meeting you all and learning!!

What are the pros and cons of a rotary engine and what is good and bad about the rx8 in general?

Anyone care to share experiences? Opinions? Facts?

And who can recommend an inexpensive insurance ? Lmao!

Welcome and you'll be pleasantly surpised by the RX-8 insurance rate, as it's classified as a 1.3L 4-door vehicle.

The answer to all of your questions is conveniently located on the top right portion of your screen. It's called the search feature.

Isn't it a policy not to just tell someone to search? I'm so sick of that crap. If you want to send someone a PM telling them to search and some of the better ways of searching, I don't see a problem, but you guys need to quit being A$$es and belittling people. If you can't contribute, just shut up and quit trying to raise your post count. /rant off.

And now to help you get some information you asked for:

There's no tape player. Some stereos came with a Mini Disk or tape option, but you'll see that right n the center of the stereo.

Most 2004s are just now running out of their warranties, but if it was a late original purchase, you MIGHT still be covered. Mine lost warranty in Feb.

If you DONT have the Sirius radio STOCK option, you have an available AUX hook up in the back of your stereo. You can use that to hookup an ipod dock (they sell kits) or various other options you can find off ebay. I hooked up a computer to it

Not sure about turning off traction control a search would help. I'd recommend keeping it on based on your background (haha no offense)

Biggest Cons of Rotary = lack of torque, crappy fuel econ

Biggest Pro - Light Weight - Good power - Nice power band from 4k to 8k rpms

In order to continue at this point, we need pics and plans Welcome to the community. There's a lot of great info and people on the boards. Just ignore the /search spammers. You'll see people who have contributed zero on these boards telling you to search. Every web board has those people.

Welcome to the addiction!

The questions you asked seem to be a little daunting - not saying they're complicated - just a little biased at times.(i.e. economists care for mpg's, where as most of us here say: **** MPG'S) I would strongly suggest researching yourself and evaluating your own pros and cons of the vehicle.

Also as Dozer said, since you are in LA. there are several meets you can attend and learn things first hand. Be sure to check out your local region and participate!

p.s. - since you are in Socal - it's pretty much MANDATORY that you attend SEVENSTOCK. Don't know what it is?? here's the link: www.sevenstock.org - we orginize an entire meet and cruise for the event - be sure to check out the threads and sign up to attend

AHHH HELP! LOL

Update: I was inspecting the vehicle, and I found on the left rear quarter pnale where the fender and bumper join, it seems like it was fixed and two indents on the side, it seems this car has been in an accident, and the dealer told me it was a clean title..

What can I do ?

After researching I have seen that these engines tend to flood.

met a dude named chris with a 4spd auto rx8, he told me about that his has flooded 3 times and even though mazda fixes it, his warramty will soon expire, so WHY DO THEY KEEP SELLING A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT,

He says all rx8s will flood, so how can I prevent this or what am I to do?

I read mazda extended warranty for 8 years / 100 000 miles. How can I know if I'm covered ??? Please let me know asap I have to talk to dealer tomorrow. This is shady!

Sorry to be a nuisance but I literally only have 30 minustes to be online cuz I'm busy, and its on my phone cuz my computer crashed..

Engine is not defective. You should have 1) Gotten the car fully inspected by a friend or other mechanic prior to purchase and 2) Done research about the car/engine.

As long as you turn on your car and let it stay on until Normal Operating Temperature(thermostat needle is just about halfway) then you will not flood your engine. This only take 3-10 minutes depending on weather conditions. Just dont let someone move it and turn it off. Oh, and in the winter, some people will rev to 3k for 5-10 seconds to push out an additional fuel from the engine, let the idle drop to normal, then turn it off. This isnt necessary but it does help prevent you from flooding the engine. Now do some research before you find out about any other "defects"

I just washed my ride for the first time, and Ugh, my DOOR AJAR light is on, i thought i didnt close one of the doors, so i pulled over and opened and closed all 4 doors, and yet the light didnt turn off, i wonder why ;\ GRRR. Im going to disconnect the batt, and check the fuses, maybe the water is causing something in the car to misread....

SO I keep hearing mazda extended the warranty on RX8s to 8 years/100,00 miles.
is this true? Im going to stop by Star Mazda in Glendale this monday to verify this, and ALSO my rearview mirror came off the hinge, I'm going to see how much they are going to hustle me to get this fixed.

SO UH, yeah, were are all the North Hollywood/Burbank/G;endale/Hollywood/Sylmar/Woodland Hills Rx8 OWNERS??? Hit me up! lets meet up! . . . Who's Down, sometime this week . . .

ALL 2004 RX8's have the 8yr/100,000 mile engine core warranty. It was extended by Mazda. I think 2005 and maybe 2006(not really sure which other yrs) also have this extended warranty. You did not need to buy this.
