a car stalling out while moving is not "fine"
Chester:
- how old is your air filter? OEM?
- how long since you cleaned your MAF?
- OEM catalytic converter?
- how old are your plugs / wires / coils?

^lol

Ditto to Jedi Car stalling out while moving is a no go. Happened to me twice just check up on your regular maintenance make sure everything is tip top. The RX-8 is not a Honda/Toyota that you can drive around and check up on once a year.

well i always take my 8 to the dealership everytime its due to its oil change. but the thing is i have this check engine light goin on! when i went they said they gonna charge me 7 bills just to fix it. and other than i need a new gas cap! so now the situation is they goin to order the parts for me. it should get there by next week. it sux cuz i drive m w f from inland empire to long beach. i hope it wont stall on me.. i will try not to speed. only going 65 mph. so if u see a silver 8 with carbon fiber spoiler! thats me!!

new updates! my car is ok now, i got the CEL taken care of. it was the gas cap! so the stealership charged me $100 for the gas cap and labor.. now they said i need a new radiator and subtank.. they chargin me $1200 for that one.. im like hell no , im not gonna pay 1200 for radiator and subtank.. After they rev and rev my 8 for like hours, my car was stalling on me when i was driving it on the free way.. but then i waited overnight, and my car was completely fine. the dealership told me that my car gets hot that the engine shuts down. So thats why they said i need a new radiator.. but the thing is my temperature gauge doesnt even go up, so i dont think i need a new radiator i just need a new subtank cuz the sensor is broken.. but i still havent figured why my car would stall like that.. got any advice??

Read the stickies.

The ECU was re-set. Takes a few drive cycles before the car runs correctly.

Stalling is common until ECU is re-programed.

Its a dealership of course they use all the right stuff. Thats just a silly question. They overcharge becuase the dealership needs to make a profit.

I would let the dealership take care of this issue to preserve your engine warranty.

I have NEVER had my car stall after the ecu was reset... I don't care what the stickies say that's not normal.

is it ok if i buy the radiator instead on ebay and then have them install it for me.. would i save more money? cuz i looked up an oem radiator online and it cost between $250 - $350.. comparing that to $1200.. i think just paying for the labor would save me a lot of money..
