Failed Smog Test Bay Area Options?

Hey guys, I just failed a smog test b/c of my AEM intake -_-. I passed emissions and everything else except for the visual inspection and was wondering what my options are to pass?

Thanks!

Yep. You can't fail emissions or a "visual inspection" due to a cold air intake. Go elsewhere.

If the intake isn't CARB legal, you have two options:
1. put the stock one back on
2. find a smog check place that is willing to look the other way

Your Intake has a CARB EO #, show them this page and any proof that your intake is the one listed.

Good find expo1.

OP, you should also contact AEM and get a replacement CARB EO# sticker to place on the intake. It will save you the hassle for the next smog check.

True that it has a CARB number Expo, but the OP may not want to advertize: "* NOTE: Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway", of which I was unaware.

Its still CARB approved, so go back to them and show them the certificate or tell them the carb number.

^ not that hard (leave the cone filter forward of the engine bay in place), but still, shouldn't be necessary to pass inspection.

MA has the same emissions requirements as CA and I've not heard of anyone here failing an inspection due to a CAI.

MA doesn't have the CARB exemption requirement for modified emission parts; this which will cause one to fail the smog test during the visual inspection.
