but cheah, i can't do any wrenching this weekend but i might be free next weekend.

spring installs aren't too difficult, just tedious. You're gonna need to rent some spring compressors tho if you wanna do it.
LOL okay so I'll rent two spring compressors when the time comes, plus beer and pizza for you knowledgeable folk. Lemme know when's a good day (Dozer, Atilla, anybody else) and ill request it off at work. Also, as for the struts, is it worth putting new ones since we're doing this whole install anyways?

new shocks to go along with the springs would be a very good idea but many of us who don't really track the car n' simply go for appearance just slap the springs on the oem shocks n' call it a day.

Thing is with the different spring rate and sizing of the aftermarket springs you'll eventually run into a problem with the shock blowing out n' effecting the rebound. It usually doesn't occur immediately tho - it takes like a couple of years of daily driving for it to settle like that.

your call tho - if you wanna save a buck you don't need it but it would be a good idea if you don't plan on upgrading to a full coilover system later on down the road.

btw, pizza and beer would be awesome. If you throw in some cigarettes i'm sure john will love you forever and ever...

I'm gonna look into getting some new struts then, or at least some low-miles OEM ones. I won't ask about which struts on this thread lol but so just to confirm, here's my shopping list:
Springs (check)
Struts (optional)
Spring compressor rental
Pizza
Beer (unknown brand)
Cigarettes (unknown brand)

Am I missing anything?

nah, looks good.

Cigarettes = Marlboro 100's red box

Good shocks = Tokico dspecs, koni yellow's, bilsteins.

beer will be up to whoever wants some. I'll be back on my diet next weekend so i'll have to stick to hard unsweetened liquers like vodka n' straight whiskey's.

I read that the KONI yellows will drop the car a little more. The S Techs I bought give a 0.7" drop in the back, 1.4" in the front. With that and the KONIs, is my 8 gonna be scraping on every damn speed bump out there ?? And as for the compressor, I'd rather pay a bit and make it easier for everybody rather than have the aforementioned nut going up somebody's *** lol

Lol teach me the ways, oh wise one. These speed bumps are the worst, and that flimsy plastic under the engine bay is shitty.

^+1 w/what shady said.

an s tech drop isn't too bad. It's not too bad until you're dropped about 2inches n' daily drive on the 101/10/5 in L.A. then i could understand how that could be a problem.

besides...iono about everybody else, but i don't really mind wrenching every once n' awhile.

p.s. - the nut in the *** was purely because of our n00bness.

If only I could avoid most of Santa Ana's streets, then I'd be fine! haha jk, I'm sure it'll be all right. I just Dont wanna drop more than 2" or I'll probably lose the cat knowing my luck.

Funny you should say that, I lost a chunk out of my old undertray out of nowhere and had to get the whole thing replaced. Expensive-*** piece of plastic

hah radical thinking. There's an aluminum (or some other light material) undertray out there, but it's a couple hundred and only protects the middle. I gotta find somebody who knows about cutting and forming sheet metal, if I could get a custom piece of metal under there.....problem solved. I'll be scraping **** on purpose
