cracked windshield replacement

Hey guys,
Last week, i got hit by a rock or something and got a little bullseye near the edge of the driver side windshield...
Well, now this has stretched about 9 inches to the middle.
wonder if this can be covered by the warranty..
Is there anybody had replaced the windshield? I don't think I'll be able to find any used one to replace.

My 8 was a dealership demonstrator that had a big crack right across the driver position when I first looked at it. The dealership made good on replacing it, but it took almost a week because they claimed that it wasn't an easy install and they had to wait for a regional Mazda technician to come and certify that it had been done correctly. Since I was actually the first buyer, I didn't consider this to be a warranty repair, though.
The good news is that the install seemed to be done correctly and I've had no problems in 3+ months.
Good luck with your replacement.

Check your car insurance policy. Do you have coverage for glass breakage? Sometimes situations like this can be covered under your insurance without being subjected to the deductible payment. If you aren't sure, it's at least worth a shot.

Your window being hit by a rock should be dealt with via insurance, not Mazda. It's not a defect, just like a semi hitting your car isn't a defect

i have the same problem. my insurance company said they can't repair it for free if it's larger than 2inches in diameter. i have a crack about 9-10 inches in the shape of a question mark right in my field of vision. it sucks but i'm still waiting for a fairly good price. i haven't really had time to look. so let me know if you find one and i'll do the same for you.

Thans guys~
BTW, Do you think it is necessary to get Mazda original windshield?
Obviously there's cost difference. One of the bodyshop that I know of will install the original Mazda around 500 bucks while this place I called "Auto Glass Across America" quoted me $325+tax with PPG glass.
Does anybody know this Auto Glass Across America place? I just want to know if any one from this forum had this people repair their windshield.

PPG is excellent glass and makes alot of glass for the mfgs. (benz, honda, etc).
The installation is more important then the name on the glass. Be sure to get a (nationwide) written lifetime warranty that covers leaks, defects, workmanship and materials. Ask your insurance company or the dealer who they recommend. The dealer does not usually install their own w/s - they sub it out.
