Its 300+ hp 400+ torque and gets 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, not bad but for the numbers its kinda weak.

This is really what we need, brand new cop cars all around lets just keep spending money we don't have. I know many police forces already switched form the crown vic to impalas a few years ago, or at least the ones in some of the citys I have lived in. Its not like the current cop cars arnt working just fine.

I just looked up stats on the old police crown vics, and wow, they sucked.

1998-2003

Horsepower : 235 hp @ 4750 rpm
Torque : 275 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
0-60 mph : 8.7 sec.

Heres the stats on the impalas some citys are using.

2000-2003

Horsepower : 200 hp @ 5200 rpm
Torque : 200 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
0-60 mph : 9.2 sec.


I thought they were both better than that, thats horrible. Still no reason to replace them they manage to catch people.

 

Police cars get replaced all the time. They rack up the miles a lot quicker than our cars do.

 

Yes but I imagine these new police cars with finger print and face recognition and night vision cameras and all that crap might just cost a bit more than the crown vics. Probably a lot more.
