There are some that hide the fact that it's amber until its turned on.

EDIT: (Once again Puppy was talking out of his A**.)

NO YOU DONT NEED AMBER BULBS.

california law stats that the front blinkers bulbs can be any color. im running the original stock bulbs with my clear corners, its 100% legal

its the rear blinkers that need to have amber/red bulbs.

as far as the bulb --amber or white is ok
hyper white or blue is illegal

thats what I'm saying

I drove a rice rocket modded civic for 4 years
I've had every ticket under the sun

cops have told me anything that is not stock or anything that has been changed is illegal

Ive had tickets for
tint, sound system, no front plate, illegal corners, taillights, turn signals or mirrors or fenders, air suspension, exhaust, illegal light in licesnce plate, too low, sticker on front windshield

cops will give you a ticket for anything and normally get away with it

even the clear corners are illegal
I have them and it doesn't bother me if I get a ticket for them because its just a fix-it ticket which is 10bucks and proof of correction. It wont hurt your insurance.
If you have clear corners you might as well put whatever color bulb you want because the clear corner is illegal

You might want to review CVC 12 Section 24953, particularly section (b).

Ok, I stayed out as long as possible, but I can't take it anymore.....

It is a side MARKER light, it does NOT blink. Go check it.

Confirmed. The TURN signal is with the headlights. It IS amber. The SIDEMARKER may be a whole different thing.

Quoting the California Vehicle Code:
Side, Cowl, or Fender Lamps

25106. (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with lighted white or amber cowl or fender lamps on the front. Any vehicle may be equipped with not more than one amber side lamp on each side near the front, nor more than one red side lamp on each side near the rear. The light source of each such lamp shall not exceed four standard candlepower.

(b) Lamps meeting requirements established by the department for side-marker or combination clearance and side-marker lamps may be installed on the sides of vehicles at any location, but any lamp installed within 24 inches of the rear of the vehicle shall be red, and any lamp installed at any other location shall be amber.

Amended Ch. 723, Stats. 1979. Effective January 1, 1980.
So, in case you missed it, white or amber on the front, amber only on the side.
