check engine light

sorry about this post.

looked up a few other posts on check engine lights, but they were outdated.

i parked my car with no problems, no lights, nothing.
came back into my car like 15 min later and the check engine light comes on and stays on.

i dont want to bring it to any dealers in the sacramento area because at this point, the one in elk grove, is just a portable buidling that works with the nissan people.

anybody know what else i can do other than bring it in because i highly doubt they will help and just try to make a couple hundred off of me for something little that i can fix.

i have about 47,000 miles, changed oil every 3000 miles, and have rotated my tires every 5000.

I did not buy my car from a mazda dealership but off a honda dealership and have a aem cai. not sure if i still have a warranty either.

any suggestion what i may need to check at this point?

thanks for all the tips

danny

You need to find out the code, without knowing what CEl you have nobody here can help. Many autoparts chain stores will do this for free.

just go to any mechanic and have them read the code for you. should be free of charge.
then we'll go from there!
how long how you been driving your car with the intake on?

I did not understand a thing you just said.

yeah ill probably try autoparts store and see if they will do it. otherwise ill probably look into having any of u scan it for me if u didnt mind.

haha btw, if the guy from tracy who helps instals springs is here, i wouldnt mind doing both on the same day.

im jealous of everyone elses car. haha

well now when i drive my car though, nothing seems wrong, but who knows.
ill try to keep it updated.

thanks all.

oh btw, if pksaan is reading this, schools finally out for davis, we should get together and install my appearance package if you dont mind.

Did the original poster state the code was the 'gas cap' codes P455 / P456? Until the code is known anything else posted is just a waste. It could be anything listed HERE.

I'm gonna have to agree.

Take it to a mechanic, get the code read, go from there. It can be a number of things.
