CA registration questions

I received my CA registration card today, but not the plates. Are they sending them separately now? Also, the year model shows 2003. Anyone else have that problem?

not exaclty the answer you wanted, perhaps, but tomorrow will mark two months since we bought the car, and still no plates.

I got my plates last wednesday with the registration. Only took 5 weeks. Not too bad for California. My bike took 8 weeks. Hope it works out for you. My year shows as 04.

Look at the plates and the indentations where the month and registration stickers go. 5 out of 10 times they put the stickers on the FRONT plate. I don't know if it's a DMV or convict practical joke on us.

Why would you ruin the beautiful front grill of your 8 with a front license plate!?!?!? Take a risk and just tell the officer when you're pulled over that the manufacturer made no provision for the front license plate...Mine is definetly NOT going on the front!

Oh man, you should have lied to him from the beginning and told him that, just like on Corvettes, there's no provision for a front plate...too bad ... ...I'm sorry you have to put it on...

Uh - The plates are identical, you just get two of exactly the same thing (or at least I did). How are you determining which one's the front one and which one is the back one? By law the stickers have to be on the back plate (there are exceptions, but they are for things like cycles and so forth). It took them just under 2 months to get the plates to me and the rego card & stickers came on an envelope attached to the envelope the plates were in.

Of course I could be just falling for a troll in which case - duh.

Simon.

It's been over 2 months, now, and still no plates. The registration came 10 days ago.

for reference, i got my 1st 8 on 7/25 and got my plates a month later. i ordered personalized plates in the beginning of august and i just got the postcard that they're ready yesterday.

now here's the problem: i returned my 1st and got my 2nd RX8 two days ago. how do i get the personalized plates from dmv without the registration from the new car? i'm trying to avoid paying any kind of plate transfer fee.
