The Ford Focus got hit on the rear left bumber, and the damage got transferred to the rear left quarter panel. I need advice. The person that hit the Focus is at fault (rear-end), but he also owns a body shop.

http://www.gianninisautobody.com/Home.html

Several choices:
1) Go through my insurance
2) Go throuh his insurance
3) Have him repair it (rental car provided for free).

I'm worried that if I have them repair it, he'll skimp on the job.

If your worried than go through his insurance, he should provide repair to your focus and installation of a mazdaspeed kit with paint to your RX8, If he wants the exchange of no raise in his insurance

**** that... Bondo and more bondo! Just go through your insurance, he pays for everything and you get your car fixed. Since he's at fault, you might hade to pay the deductible, but you'll get reimbursed, or if he admits claim to his insurance he'll pay it anyway. On top of that, what if you get your car fixed there and the paint goes bad... "you were never there"

Or go through your insurance and get his company to fix it, then bitch that he did a crappy job!

Or do what Zach said, new kit for your car and fix the SVT.

Dont give him any incentives, he obviously hasn't earned it, either he fixes the SVT plus some free services in the future (get something in writing and notarized) or go through insurance. If you allow him the opportunity to make it right, he needs to make it worth your while because your basically doing him a huge favor by not reporting it, especially him being a business owner.

Be aggressive damn it, the economy sucks *** right now, get as many hand outs as you can squeeze out of people

Well, they're going to have to do it officially with all necessary paperwork, and not under the table. Allstate (my insurance) actually has their body shop on the recommended list. I have not talked to them yet. My wife is the one that got rear ended this morning. It was unusual that they happen to own a body shop.

I'm not trying to get anything extra. I just want them to appraise the dammage on the car correctly if I decide to have them fix it.

I am not saying you have to take my advice, but don't bitch when they do a crap job on your car because they aren't getting paid to do it.

Reputable business or not, do the math, crap economy + no profit job = cheap *** job

He is going to do it cheaply whether his reviews say so or not, you might as well get a few extras out of the deal

And so what if he is on allstates' recommended list, usually those lists are comprised of shops they cut deals with for cheaper work in exchange for advertisement on they're "list", I would trust a insurance company as much as a knife in my back

How about a mazdatrix charger while were at it!

Seriously, their body shop is also in the Allstate (my insurance) recommended list.

Do whatever, I just think your getting the raw end of the deal if you let it slide with no insurance involved and dont get anything extra out of it. Your doing hima big favor and receiving nothing in return, wheres the appreciation?

All that I'm saying is that if I were a business owner and I hit someone and could use my business as a key to keep my insurance rates down, I would be thanking the person I hit if they would let me make it right by fixing they're car and giving them a free paint job or something like that as an appreciation

When you own a business it is always assumed by your insurance companies that you will be more responsible than someone who does not own a business, so when you actually need to use your policy the rates go up much higher than that of a regular policy, and they also know they can get more money out of you.

Its like a commercial license from the DMV, as soon as you obtain one, even if you are not driving your commercial vehicle, speeding tickets give you 1.5 points vs a regular 1 point, they assume you to be more responsible

Naw, screw that, Im taking it to crockett auto body, they do the best work around here. Thinking about paying the difference and getting a MS front bumper. Regardless this will give me the opportunity to get a clear bra on the front bumper.

The bumper and the driver side fender are done, the driver side door might be messed up too, She pulled in front of me when I was doing 40 (speed limit) and we hit head on, I had the green, she was turning and ran the red, she admitted it to me but there were no witnesses, she seemed like a really honest person and was mostly concerned that we were ok. Hopefully this will be a seemless transaction, but with the bay area who knows.

I dont think she will. She gave all of her info very willingly, she has AAA insurance, I am the one with the ghetto insurance, lol

But i have all of her info from her insurance card, she even gave me one of the little cards deigned to get handed out incase of an accident, and i have all of her license info as well, I took some pics with my phone, which are pretty good 1.3mp

I just dont like dealing with this kind of ****, its annoying as hell
