Page Mill Rd. is only good west of the 280 going towards Skyline. Page Mill starts in a twisty residential section. While the road is still quite fun, the thought of running over a jogger is not something that I relish. However, past Moody Rd. Page Mill loses the houses and becomes a really challenging piece of twisting pavement. Page Mill is slow with the occasional extremely sharp hairpin that starts in a forested section and when going west eventually changes into a drive along the top of a ridge. Going flat out shifting at redline, 2nd and 3rd gears will be the most useful. If you're extremely familiar with the road you might be able to hit 4th, but I haven't. I also don't use 1st since it's dodgy getting into that gear when moving, but your style might be different. I find it quite hard to get into a rhythm on Page Mill, and the rather narrow width doesn't help, but at least two cars can fit through here, unlike Alpine Rd. Page Mill is choppy, especially towards the end of the run, if you have a stiff track oriented setup you probably won't be happy here. Visibility down the road is rather limited, especially in the forested section. It's also filled with bicyclists during the day, so I prefer it as a night drive.

Past Skyline, Page Mill turns into Alpine Rd., which is more of a goat trail than a real road. If you're interested in that as well and want my opinion, just ask. Other good roads in the area include 84 and Pescadero Creek Rd.

I go there at midnight, but I almost wiped out twice on a freakin deer, both on the RX8 and s2000. I use mostly 2nd and 3rd also, but I'm still a wannabe. I need more practice. I like the rotary engine since it's so much smoother. This is my impression of the Rotary vs Pist-on. With the rotary engine, you get this feeling of "oh yes, oh yes, pump that gas" when you rev it up; but with the s2000, or any other piston engine, it just doesn't feel right when you rev up the rpms--the 350z, friends Cobra, it felt like it was going to blow up whenever you pushed the engine to the limit.

welcome! as far as the exhaust, that all depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend? Have you done anything else or planning on doing anything to the engine?

 

Yes i have done the Air intake with Filter... But am looking for an exhaust system... Borla sounds nice... Mazdaspeed sounds nice... Exoticspeed sounds nice...

On youtube it all sounds the same after 8 different exhaust systems...
I was hoping to meet up with people to see and hear what they had on the RX8's...

That is the problem with a lot of those mountain roads in SMC. Better to drive during the day but have to watch for bicyclists and the possibility of a 1 hp "sports car" along the side of the road.

There are a lot of narrow roads and a few wide ones.

 

I need to get my 1hp sports car fixed. I think it needs an injector cleaning.

I have a 1989 Telecaster, made in the u.s.a. but I haven't played in 8 years. I never got beyond reading music though, so I gave up on it. I figured to really "hear" it you need to get into substance abuse. I got as far as learning the different scale modes, i.e. lydian, major, minor, blah blah....forgot all the different modes.

Most of the music I listen to is old heavy metal, like Iron Maiden. They went downhill after "Powerslave". I also listen to a lot of Santana, RUSH, Old Metallica, Black Sabbath, old Jefferson Airplane, Judas Priest's self debut album (I couldn't really listen to them past the first album), Led, Zep, Old AC/DC, Jazz with some type of weird fusion.

One of the things that pissed me off is I learned to play "The Rain Song", Led Zep, and only to find out later that you can retune the guitar and pretty much bar the chords. FAWK! I spent like a month learning it.

"Dee" by R. Rhodes was fun to learn also.

1.5 hours later, AudioLink installed. Damn that wire is short. I wired it though the armrest console where the 12v is. It took me like 3 times to find a place to put the box and still be able to install it into the HU.

Finished installing the rotors today

 

Nice... whick side was harder to install? How long did it take you?

Over all it was pretty easy. the set screws on the front rotors wouldnt come off so I had to drill them out and retap the holes, took time to take a salvaged screw to orchard and get the right replacements and the right tap but it all came together nicely and I was able to replace the set screws with exact duplicates, I used a ton of teflon tape so it wont be hard to take them out again should I ever need to. The rears were cake, the thing that took the most time was the trip to kragen to get the wierd piston release tool but that was about it, rears took maybe 30 minutes for both sides. the fronts took about 2 1/2 hours, due to carfeully drilling out the set screws and going to the store and what not.

It would take me maybe 1 hour to do all four now that I know exactly what needs to get done
