My motor is blown and I need a rebuild fast because I have no way to get back and forth from work. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for recommendations from community members that have worked with shops and had good experiences with the shop. Otherwise I would just go with what ever google points me to.

Anyways, I don't want to get into a flame fest with you. If any of the guys from the good old days remembers me and can point me to a shop they trust, please post a reply.

If not, I guess you can post here to poke fun of my shitty situation. I'm not new to the forum, I know how it is around here.

the dealer also sales remanufacture engines you just need someone to take out the old one.
its faster then a rebuild. cost with labor will still be the same as a rebuild.

the mazda dealer

$2k

mostly new parts, yes they may be a crap shoot but that is what warranty is for. think a rebuilder is going to give you $1100 new housings with a rebuild for similar pricing? no.

yes they do, but only if they are within specification. additionally lower compression figures are more attributed to worn rotor housings versus irons. think a rebuilder throws in a set of $1600 irons with the new housings? now we're getting rediculous.. yes a rebuilder can cut the irons but then your nitriding is 75% gone and so is the majority of the nitriding's tensile strength. they can be nitrited after cutting but then we're talking a $4k rebuild with new rotor housings, cut and nitrided irons and new complete seal kit. then you have a virtually new OEM factory engine, which may get the average 70k renesis miles from it IF you replace all the other failure components: ie fuel pump, cat, O2 sensors, coils and plugs.

most people just bide their time, spending more money isn't a great idea in that case.

in any case, don't make it sound like they're throwing crap irons in these engines, they do scrap the scrap.

I've had a reman five months ago from MAZDA installed by Lucky 7 Racing in Duarte, which is at least 45 min east on 134/210. Give them a call... Make sure your coolant reservior is working and have a good cat-converter. Give them; if you can purchase them for less, a new set of spark plugs, wires (and may be coils, as well). The shop has to make sure it does not have a CEL or coolant sensor show before they take the car to MAZDA for the warranty. It would be good to have your clutch changed since the engine will be out.
