I'm new here and I was interested in the recent recall issues. When I bought my car, dealerships had June, July, August, and September cars. Luckily, the dealership that gave me the best deal had some September cars and I took one over the August cars that they also had. If I had taken an August car, I would be included in one of the recent recalls (the insulator one). As a result of going with the September car, I was LUCKY to narrowly miss that recall.

Mikeb, I was wondering if you have changed your earlier stance that, given a selection of cars built during various months, selecting an earlier-built car (for example, a July car) is just fine when a car built two months later (for example, a September car) is available.:D

I had almost the same experience with Galpin. I test drove an 8 at Galpin but knew they did not have what I wanted.

I ended up buying from Long Beach Mazda two days later ($700 over invoice). Never heard back from Galpin after my test drive. Oh well, they lost a sure sale with me.

Actually, he is the forum cop. Writing in blue is a misdemeanor offense.

I'll have to do a weapons check first. Assume the position.

of course I've changed my stance
I can't tell the future

I still can't believe a dealership had a June car on the lot in September. They would have lost all their dealer holdback (2%) with it sitting on the lot that long.

Actually, it was early November and at least one dealership had a shitload of July cars. And I mean a shitload. It also had a handful of June cars at that time.

I wondered about the holdback as well.
