Everyone,

Here's a tentative listing of events for 2009. This year I'll strive to send out a monthly announcement in the first week of every month or post up with the event details and exact date(s) for that month! Thanks to everyone for your continued support of RCCAZ!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday, January 1st - New Year’s Day South Mountain Run and Go Karting at F1 Race Factory.

Sunday, February 15th - Annual Valley Casino Poker Run. Meet at the Chandler Lowes on the NW corner of Ray Road and 56th Street at 9:30 am. Depart for first Casino at 10:00 am. Wrap up with lunch and door prizes at Fox Sports Grill (Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright) following event.

Saturday, March 21st - Spring RCCAZ picnic and evening run to the Scottsdal Pavillions. Details to be provided during the first week of March.

Saturday, April 18th - Third annual P6 Spring Run (Phoenix-Payson, Payson-Prescott, Prescott-Phoenix). Meet at Wendy’s in Fountain Hills at 8:30 am for a 9 am departure with a break in Payson, lunch in Prescott and return back into Phoenix by 4 pm (approx). NOTE: Due to the incredible length of this run, we may shorten it this year and go from Camp Verde straight into Prescott (bypassing Cottonwood and Jerome), just to shorten the day by a couple of hours. Give us your feedback and tell us what YOU want.

Sunday, May 3rd - Spring Tortilla Flats Run. Details and meeting time and place to be announced.

Saturday, June 20th - First of two Saturday evening "Hot Summer Night" events. Meet at Safeway Plaza at 83rd Ave North of Beardsley.

Sunday, July 12th - Summer Grudge Match go kart racing at F1 Race Factory,

Saturday, August 22nd - Second "Hot Summer Night" event at the Scottsdale Pavillions.

Friday-Sunday, September 24th-26th- Confirmed - Sevenstock XII at Mazda HQ in Irvine CA.

Saturday, October 24th – Annual Skull Valley Halloween Run. Details and meeting time and place to be announced.

Sunday, November 22nd - Fifth Annual Turkey Trot and Rotary Romp (possibly out to Saguaro Lake this year instead of Tortilla Flats) . Details and meeting time and place to be announced.

Sunday, December 6th - Annual Toyz for Totz Holiday Cruise and Toy Drive to Wickenburg sponsored by Remember When Cruise Assn and Cops Who Care.

January 1, 2010 - New Year’s Day South Mountain Run and Go Karting at F1 Race Factory

That was a fun time. We had a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen RX7 and two 8's. Oh, and a Jeep and econo thing since Steve and Tim's FD's were being worked on.
Thanks for putting this together Tim. Looking forward to the next picnic event.

Everyone,

I know that it's past March 1st and I promised announcements out this year during the first week of the month, but I'm home on Vacation with no access to my club distribution list, so I thought I'd get out an early reminder, then send the "official" announcement next Monday. Current plans for our club picnic are to hold it at Pima Park in Scottsdale (86th Street and Thomas Rd). Plan is to start around NOON with volleyball (7s Vs. 8s) and then wrap up by 4 pm with a caravan up to the Pavs for the Saturday night carshow. More details to come next Monday, but for now... that's it.

Everyone,

NOTE: We've changed the Park location from Scottsdale to Ahwatukee due to the small size of Papago Park near Thomas and Granite Reef.

Join us next Saturday, March 21st, as we meet in Ahwatukee at Mountain Vista Park (50th Street, 1/4 mi North of Ray Road - behind Ahwatukee Foothills Carwash) for our annual club picnic. Festivities begin around 1 pm with rotary-themed games and door prizes. If anyone has a portable volleyball net and ball, please let me know. We'd like to do competitive matches (maybe RX-8s versus RX-7s).

The club will spring for a Costco Party sub and beverages (sodas and water), and guests are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to bring a VERY small side dish. Following the picnic, we'll caravan together up to the Scottsdale Pavillions around 4 pm for the Saturday evening car show. Hope to see you all there!!! Sign up is already established here:

https://www.rx8club.com/west-rx-8-forum-34/2009-rccaz-calendar-events-166226/#post2875201

...or you can just email me to let me know how many are coming and what you'll be bringing.

Directions to the park:

http://maps.google.com/maps?source=i...i=lmd&z=14&t=m

NOTE: DUE TO THE LACK OF GRILLS AT THE PARK, WE WILL BE SERVING UP A COSTCO PARTY SUB WITH DRINKS INSTEAD OF THE BURGERS AND BRATS AS PREVIOUSLY POSTED.

Edit: Went back to the park and checked more carefully. They actually DO have a great Volleyball court. Now all we need is the Ball. Post up if you've got one we can use!!

Thanks for the offer, I didn't check back on here since I didn't have a way there. I'm going to be out of the picture for a while. I have to many personal and family problems to deal with right now but I hope to be able to hang out with the club sometime soon. Take it easy everyone.

Fun time at the RCCAZ picnic. Here are a few pictures.

Easy changing spark plugs

The kids taking their turn with the plugs

Ryan with the plugs

The new best buds, Bubba the bully, Newton the Dane and the Bone

Bubbs and the bone

There was a good showing at the Pavs as well.

Thanks to Tim for putting this on. Wish you could have made it to the Pavs to show off all your hard work on the FD. The car looks amazing, and sounds even better!
