Charles Hill - GREAT news on the upcoming work already lined up for your move to Phx! I'm getting close to having my warranty expire and am actually considering power improvement options such as the SC. Anyhow, I can't make the Monday run but there will be plenty more opportunities for club gatherings.

 

hey Ray I decided to forgo the nitrous for now. Instead I got some Koni shocks and Sprint springs, and a GT Factory vertical door kit. I think I will hold off on the nitrous for a couple months now

 

yeah, I normally wouldn't door a door kit, but I found such a smoken deal I had to pounce or it would bother me for years, ya know?

Progress Tech sway bars, RB end links, Fidanza flywheel, Exedy clutch, Zex 82021 kit, Koyo rad, Siebon CF hood and trunk, and Veilside lip are next on the list after the last round of Koni's and springs. I also got a Corksport braided ss clutch hose and clear corners. I want to keep it simple........for now.

 

Yep I just ordered it yesterday so it all *should* be here by Sunday or Monday, possible we can throw on my shocks and springs at Jeff's place (if he is willing). The door kit is a weld-on kit and requires a little more time, but if we have Erick, Jeff, Me and yourself wrenchin, it may get done quicker. I dunno- you'll have to ask Jeff- it's the same kit he has.

Well shoot, you should have the system wrapped up mostly on Saturday, right? We could be back in PHX on Sunday way before dinner then

 

Yeah, the door thing is an all day project.
Really, it should be at least a two day project.
The actual installation is scary, but doesn't take too long. Its the wiring harnesses and the assembly/disassembly of the front end that takes up most of the time.
Plan on about 14 - 18 hours of work at a comfortable pace.
Its 111°F here, BTW. My garage reads 121°F right now.

I can crash at your place in the middle of installation if needed if we start it on a Sunday, I won't have anywhere to be until Wedensday. That would be ideal.

My springs shipped today and according to FedEX will be here on the 6th. Still waiting for work on the Koni's. If you guys want to throw them on Monday I'm game if Jeff is willing. But I want to make sure we have time to grab some food and talk, too.

Jobwise, I'm not sure what you're intersted in, but if you have a high level of mechanical aptitude (like I think you most likely do), we hire aircraft mechanics occasionally where I work at Honeywell Aerospace. Really, no previous AC mechanic experience necessary, just a good recommendation and a high level of mechanical aptitude. I can provide the recommendation, and I think you'd have the rest covered. Might pay the bills initially plus cover you and the family with some decent Honeywell benefits. I'll see if they're looking if you're interested. Just let me know.

Hey Charles,

From what I understand, they'll be looking for a mechanic in the near future (within the coming month). What you'll need to do is apply at the subcontract house here in Tempe that provides them with all of their prospects. Then, once hired, if you work out and they like your work you'll get converted from a subcontractor to direct employee within a few months. That's the way they weed out newbies. Anyway, I see that you're coming into town this coming Monday. Have Maniac get ahold of me. I only live a few miles down the road. I'd love to come over and welcome you and hand over the necessary info that you'll need to go and apply!

Charles, if your XP registry is really corrupt I would re-install if you have the disk. I hope you don't have too much installed already.

You need to figure how the registry got trashed though. The XP file system is pretty robust, so you may need to check the integrity of the disk. Format (there goes your data!) may point any issues with hard drive out.

My 2 cents... I am sure everyone will have their own advice. You know, like they have on anything else!

There are other issues that can cause the same problems, such as memory. I used MEMTEST86 the last time to test memory. You can download and write it to a CD and run the tests without messing with your harddrive first.

The Honeywell gig sounds sweet. I wish you the best of luck!

 

Format, clean install, load all your "primary" apps, then do a Ghost of the partition and save it on a DVD.
Next time it blows up, you don't have to go all the way back to the beginning.

We got the Shinka for Nancy just a couple of months ago. I no longer have to deal with 8 envy at home. It IS cool to look at a 3-car garage filled with nothing but rotaries....

Funny, back in '89, I moved with my folks from East Detroit to Oro Valley (Tucson) as well!

Got the new style Mazda coils yesterday, and a Seibon hood deal in Anaheim made, so I am going to drive over to Racing Beat after I pick up the hood, and get the race flash and some RB Ultra spark plug wires while I am there.... Now I know not to make the trip during that July weekend... I am hoping to get some more tips and tricks from Jeff and you all, since I usually go off taking photos at the NOPI shows and stuff and never have time to chit chat...
