Thumbs up 2 new 8s

Went down to buy an rx8 on Sunday, and had my buddy test drive one.

Tuesday we took delivery on 2.

Silver and titanium. On the long drive home, we did all the goofy driving in formation stuff.

So look for us in the LA area. zoom zoom

definitely. planning on doing the whole "let's make a deal for 2 sets of..." thing

the hardest part is not revving the motor during break-in. though, watching the gas gauge fall like a rock helps.

anyone know any cheap gas stations in the west los angeles area?

There's an ARCO near the corner of Barrington and Olympic. Prices are pretty good.

Another West L.A. owner. Cool. Maybe start to have more numbers for the meets.

Congrats on the purchase.

You may want to consider sticking with Cheveron or Shell. Discount gas can cause pinging.

I really don't think it matters. All of it probably comes from the same place, same source.

There's an intersection a block north of the Cloverfield exit from the 10 that has 3 gas stations (Exxon, Shell and Arco). The prices there are pretty competitive, some of the lowest i've seen in LA. As of right now, the prices for 87 are $1.99 at Arco, $2.01 at Exxon, don't remember Shell tho. I usually fill up on 87 at the Exxon.

Come to think of it, I saw a sunlight silver 8 with paper plates at Olympic and Sawtelle last night. Might have been one of you. Congrats on your new ride, and enjoy having a stupid grin on your face.

Mine seemed to "back-fire" more with the 87. Only used it for two tanks and that was to see if it changed my gas mileage - it didn't.

Give a wave if you see (another) silver 8 with plates that say: "JM1 FE" That's me.

Hey Dynamic - I bought my 8 at Todey in Oxnard too! They treated me really good, and cut me a great deal -

Do they still have a lot of 8's on the lot?

I've had the car for 8 months now, and I've been running 87 since my 4th tank. I haven't noticed much of a difference. I seem to get ~1 mpg more on 87 than 91. No pinging or detonation. Throttle response seems a little quicker, but it's probably a placebo effect.

I saw a sunlight silver turning on olympic when I was letting my co-worker play around with my car (he has a m5 and an m roadster, and he was just loving the 8) during lunch. I think it might have been 310guy. Sorry I didn't wave, I was busy talking about the 8 with my co-worker, and didn't see the other 8 til the last minute.

I actually had it happen prior to the Mazdaspeed exhaust. The only time I will hear it (even now) is when I'm WOT and letting her windup.... just stomping on the pedal...

They had a handful. Actually, they didn't have the exact car I wanted. They bought it from another dealer and gave still gave us a great price. Don't know if you remember your dealer/sales manager, but for anyone interested in the 8, talk to Al.
