We used to have a banner or sticky that explained to new members why they can't post. It looks like that was replaced with the Takata airbag info posts.
Can we get the new member requirements info back?

I was just thinking, would it be possible to somehow force the new member to read something before or right after they sign up?

Hard to make someone read something unless they are forced to.

 

They'll just scroll past it click "Accept".
Unless we integrate a quiz into it...

 

I know some download wait pages have a timer and it will actually pause if you are not actively viewing that window.

All this sounds a bit extreme, though... We are not being flooded by these threads on a daily basis to warrant something like that.

How long does moderator approval take for new threads in the New Members section? Made an attempt to post an introduction yesterday only to be met with a message saying my thread was awaiting Moderator approval. Is this for all threads or just new people that want to post threads?

 

It takes as long as it takes.
The mods are all volunteers that have lives and jobs.

 

This is for new members only. Notice the lack of scams/****/clickbait threads on the forum? Its thanks to that.

 

It doesn't happen to all threads. Usually ones with lots of pictures or video get kicked to the Mod list.

We try and get to them every day.... but sometimes they take a bit longer if we are all busy and don't get a chance to catch them
