I'll talk to the maker and get the info. I might have him reply since he's better at expaining the info than I am.

Is the optional daughter board included with your kit? I just want to make sure that it will work with our cars right out of the box.
I'm Jay, "The maker."

CAN is optional because most shops aren't servicing '04 and later vehicles yet. We drop this daughter board in during manufacturing. They are extra and not provided natively.

This is Jay again, It does support the Maita with the standard electrical interfaces that are in the unit. The ONLY vehicles that are not supported "out of the box" are those that require CAN. That is an optional expansion.

Jay,

Thanks for taking a moment to answer some of our questions.

So if I'm reading this correctly, we will need to buy the scan software and OBDII cable for $230 and the optional CAN upgrade for another $60 for a grand total of $290 for this to work with our RX-8s.

Huff has also mentioned that you were excited about the CAN protocol and its potential. Do you have anything special in the works that we should know about?

Huff,

I ordered a unit from your website on sunday. I just read the post above about the CAN upgrade. Does the unit on your site include the CAN board for the RX-8?

Also, do you know if these units are in stock because my order has not shipped yet?

When you order the tool you need to specify that it's for a CAN vehicle.

Give me a ring and I'll work it out for you. The one you got probably didn't have the update on it already.

Huff,

I was able to go out last night with the developer for this cool toy. We did about an hour and a half of 1/4 mile runs, 60-0 stopping and so forth. First let me just say it was a fun time.

We tested a bunch of 1/4 miles (15's to 16's - I'm new at the whole quarter mile thing)

Stopping 60-0 was 123-127 feet every time.

The rolling chassis dyno came out around 168 +/- some hp.

Overall I was very very impressed. There is an incredible amount of functional use with this. He even had one set up for a bluetooth / wireless into a palm pilot. Very sweet.

Does the 6 have the regular OBDII or is it CAN also? IF it's not CAN then yes it will work. I don't know if there is a Mazda 6 profile available yet though I wouldn't be surprized. I'll ask the manufacture next time I see him.

Please do! This would be all it would take to push me over the edge and "force" me to buy one of these. Mrs. Omi drives a 6S, and if I could use it on both her car AND my '8, well, it becomes irresistable! :D

Did you ever get the unit to work? Can you provide some details on what sensors it all monitors?

Besides wanting to know if it works with the Mazda 6S, I'd also like to know if this tool will show real time a/f.

So.....?

Omicron,

When I went out and did testing with this tool the other day we got what I believe were real time A/F among a whole host of other 'real time' items. I'll double check though just in case.

Zoom-zoom,

The guy at autoenginuity had a bluetooth wireless pocket pc hooked up to his ...man that was nifty gadget!! No cords and real time data on a pocket pc.

To be completely honesty I'm not a computer wiz and I don't know off the top of my head which sensors the unit recognizes though I do know that they are working on adding more sensor info to the package.

Sanguine, that'd be great thanks!

Then all I'd have to know is if this tool can be used for the Mazda 6S...

I wouldn't know why it wouldn't work on the 6, they both have the latest and greatest Mazda CAN systems

Omicron,

I checked it out and Yes it does real time A/F. Also it is supported on the Mazda 6 (it is CAN) I'm going to get a complete list of sensors as well and post them here when I do. I'm making Huff's life easier here I hope. And if not....

The Test Monkey Hijacks Again!!! I have taken control of the Vividracing forum (muhahahaha) I shall rule the world!!! Sorry....too much coffee this a.m.

That's a test monkey for ya. Feed him a couple of times and next thing you know he's taking over. LOL. Yes, your right on that on Dark, it does give real time a/f and is compatible with the Mazda 6. I just got off the phone with Jay at AutoEngineuity and confirmed the info just to be sure. This will make Omicron happy.

Because our cars are N/A it ueses a Command Equivilacy to get the info. I'm not sure what all that means (i suck with electroncics and computers) but the good thing is that's why AutoEnginuity offers free tech support for those who need further help.
