Y does the Rx8 fourm take so long to load compared to other fourms?

As title states?

it takes long when you click on new thread, go advanced, quote, etc.

Bigbacon 10-15-2009 09:21 AM

What browser are you using?

slowness is either the server being slow, javascript being slow (usually browser dependent) or flash (if the ads are flash) and Flash is a system HOG...

It has a bit a bit slow the last few days.

treyoh5 10-15-2009 10:38 AM

good things come to those who wait.

(my firefox is slow as hell loading this site..)

dozer 10-15-2009 10:39 AM

^so is mine, and my IE is even slower

treyoh5 10-15-2009 10:45 AM

beer helps speed up the load times

CyberPitz 10-15-2009 12:29 PM

Firefox here - I don't notice any slowness.

VS8 10-15-2009 01:09 PM

safari and firefox

StormyWankel 10-15-2009 01:11 PM

I've tested this site on four browsers when I first joined because I noticed the slowness...Firefox was the fastest, followed closely by Opera. Safari and IE were the slowest (Safari was a little faster than IE). It also seems to change depending on the day...some days it's slow and some days it's fast...never slow enough to bother me though so meh

Mazmart 10-15-2009 01:36 PM

Yes, the last few days have been 2-3 times longer than normal. Slightly irritating.

Paul.

alnielsen 10-15-2009 02:26 PM

I'm not having any trouble with Firefox. I'll have to try it with IE & Chrome.

Symbioticgenius 10-15-2009 04:13 PM

I am having trouble with Firefox, im gonna try running it sans scripts and see what happens.

Edit: No noticeable difference using Noscript to block everything except rx8club.com. Also unable to ping rx8club.com so any kind of data test is out of the question. Nonetheless it is noticeably slower.

RXeckless 10-15-2009 04:15 PM

ditto to all of the above. uploading sometimes takes forever seem to hang.

Safari 3.11 slow on a day by day basis, good one day next almost at a standstill. Had 4.01 (slow always) till mac died then back to 3.11, Firefox slow also. EI for the mac never use but installed for the wif, just crawls.

Sorry, forget I posted this....... everything is wonderful. Last time I posted in suggestions my post #'s got returned to zero for my effect.

DarkLord7854 10-15-2009 04:54 PM

The server(s) suck(s). Sometimes the forums don't even load for me, or stop loading halfway. It's really lame.

chino0314 10-15-2009 05:53 PM

safari works great fire fox is lame

:iwstupid:

Mazurfer 10-15-2009 06:34 PM

It's been rather slow for up to a week now!
More than slightly irritating!
Other sites and forums are okay........:uhh:

Bigbacon 10-15-2009 07:03 PM

safari is ass.....It's SLOW.....

I write web apps for a living and Safari is always by far the slowest POS browser there is..... It can barely figure out javascript in a timely manner. Forget Ajax, takes forever.

//end safari rant

chino0314 10-15-2009 07:07 PM

double you tee vee mofo ^^^ :)

Gr8Bullet 10-15-2009 07:11 PM

your local internet connection could also be the cause of it as well. my firefox is working good.

Mazurfer 10-15-2009 07:16 PM

^...............not in my case!

exsequor 10-15-2009 07:27 PM

firefox ftw. no load problems here but I have always noticed the rx8club is a little slow. lately it's seemed a bit quicker for me.

2tone 10-16-2009 09:33 AM

i 20th that it's been really slow lately. ie is the worst, safari is bad too. firefox is ok but still slow. sometimes it won't even load at all. it's the worst after i type out a message like this only to have it crash! [fingers crossed]

cornholio135 10-16-2009 01:37 PM

GOOD GOD ARE THEY EVER GOING TO FIX THIS???? IS THIS SITE RUNNING OFF AN XP BOX IN SOMEONE'S GARAGE??????????????? :banghead:

zoom44 10-16-2009 07:55 PM

while i havent noticed any particular slowness today i did notice it a little a day or two ago. usually its because 7club is really busy....

ZumnRx8 10-16-2009 07:58 PM

IMHO the forum is never slow for me maybe i have a fast connection and good laptop, but every thing seems the same...

ferg 10-17-2009 03:31 PM

yeah fine with me

E.M.S. 10-21-2009 11:25 AM

this website is soo slow because of all the flash advertisements. this website is starting to look like a major league ball park with Fucking banners everywhere and HUGE drop down banners that don't allow you to exit out of them as they bring you to another fucking window. and those God damn bing search icons everywhere that pop up with every time you search. this site is starting get get rediculous.

at least someone is enjoying it. whoever gets the checks.

rodjonathan 10-21-2009 11:27 AM

yeah the adverts slow the site down alot ... especially the flash ones

Symbioticgenius 10-27-2009 12:03 AM

Ive had to reload everything I've clicked on for the past half hour or so just to get it to load. Multiple times on occasion. Just keeping this updated, it is still an issue.

RyansRx8 10-27-2009 12:07 AM

It loads right up for me and fast lol

Symbioticgenius 10-27-2009 02:40 AM

I have an add-on called no Script, which blocks all the flash stuff, still takes forever... sometimes.

Chad D. 10-27-2009 07:20 AM

I have linux (Sabayon) and I simply turn off adobe flash and it seems to work way faster, and on top of that I get barely any adverts, just blank boxes. Instead of 5-10 seconds it's under 1sec.

Gauge 10-27-2009 04:17 PM

2 Fast 2 Furious for me...

nah but loads up good for me at home(6mb/s) and at work(400kb/s).

pup 10-27-2009 07:20 PM

the new page i try to go to sometimes never opens.....its stays on the stupid truck add thats atop the screen.......i dont want to buy a damn chevy .....if did i wouldnt have gotten an 8....truck suck.....8 great

Moderie/MT 11-01-2009 01:04 AM

I feel it has always been slower than almost all other forums. it takes much longer to load completely. and often you don't see half the forum till it's almost completely loaded. gets frustrating.

NYC Drift King 11-02-2009 04:56 PM

Yea I believe theirs a problem here. I have a cable modem. I do online gaming etc. I monitors my internet speed often, and this site if significantly slower than most.

9krpmrx8 11-02-2009 04:59 PM

I thought it was just me but other pages are loading fine and www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net are showing my connection is fine.

Jedi54 11-02-2009 05:15 PM

yup, been pretty slow around here lately.

Grungepup 11-02-2009 07:10 PM

can we get a fix please?

ferg 11-02-2009 07:11 PM

are you guys kidding or something? this site flys

Grungepup 11-02-2009 07:29 PM

dude... i can go make a sandwich, eat it, poop it out and come back to the page still .... loading ...

ferg 11-02-2009 08:29 PM

i bet its from all that pics with hot girls clogging up the site

Striker-7 11-02-2009 08:40 PM

Using Firefox 3.5.4, no add-ins, this site is slow on both 15mb/sec cable modem and our OC3 office connection. Even as I type this, the "Transferring data from www.rx8club.com..." message is hanging on the message bar.

Time of day doesn't seem to influence the slow/ incomplete page loads.

Jedi54 11-02-2009 10:01 PM

one thing that appears slower is when I actually hit 'post reply', doesn't seem nearly as quick as it used to be.

edit: nvm, seemed fine on this last post. :dunno:

Bigbacon 11-03-2009 10:18 AM

from start to finish chrome says this took 6.48 seconds to load. Other than the PHP script itself (which took 4.32 seconds to load) the worst offend of the loading time is expand_main_table.gif. it took 1.92 seconds by itself to load.

It seems like it's a dead link anyway to that image, unless it's generated during page load so that could be part of the load time issue, bad links that it's waiting for some response.

olddragger 11-03-2009 11:21 AM

i ditto the fact it is slow and it is not my connection--for sure. reminds me of the days of dial up.
It used to not be this way.
OD

adamwzl 11-03-2009 12:22 PM

Its slow for me here also. Home or work..

Mazurfer 11-03-2009 12:27 PM

Yep, I agree...................slow!
Work or home, I'm on a fast connection in both places and same result....................slow!
All other sites appear to be okay.
