Unhappy What's up with "Attached Thumbnails"?

It seems that now when there are picture attachments they are displayed as thumbnails. Or worse, as links. I liked the old way where you could just scroll through the thread and see the images in their entirety. The thumbnails are a good idea for low bandwidth connection, but is there some way to choose to see full images instead?

I like them this way- just my opinion but I have my own T1 line and when I even have to wait for some of those crazy images to load that is a little too much! but an option would be nice I suppose

Thumbnails are going to stay - Not everyone has broadband I believe if you just post 1 image, it will show inline.

Also, moving this post to "Suggestions"

No prob. Just thought maybe I was missing something. I use 28.8 from home so I know about narrow-band

I agree with nubo. With thumbnails now, I need to click on every image. But I also understand the download time for 56k users.

Is there any way you could make this an user option instead? Say in the user control panel, I have an option to whether display images in full size or thumbnail?

Thanx

FYI, it looks like the forced-thumbnail can be bypassed by putting your image on another web site and embedding the following in your message (except use brackets rather than braces):

{IMG}http://www.michaelclee.com/pics/mikes/images/evo_1.jpg{/IMG}

So while there is some gain for dial-in users it is not 100%. Check out the following as an example posted today.

I agree with bong. A user/cp option is definitely needed. Before by forcing full size images 56K users were penalized. Now by forcing thumbnails you are penalizing high-speed users. IMHO the new setup is equally bad as the original setup, it just effects a different set of users.

in the big picture of life I can give a crap! BUT! as a web developer we are still supposed to default to the 56k crowd. (trust me I love fat pipes and the sites that scream on them i.e. www.gmunk.com )

Not asking for the default to be full image. Just asking for the user option.

It's not a priority on my list, but I'll try and see if I can make that an option.
