just need a competent coder to add in a few minor things transparent to the standard user that will prevent spambots from being able to post.

I have a few sites that used to get this crap all the time (higher pagerank and more page views than rx8club), I get zero spam now.

I don't think the site owners are interested in dealing with it. They just sit back, collect the ad money, and vendor cash, and let the mods manually delete.

I agree, and if the site owners don't care, I would imagine Mazda does. Afterall they must have some liscense to use the name and I'm sure Mazda doesn't want the web forum for thier flagship sports car to be peddling ****. If there is a way to stop it and they choose not to do, it they become negligent.

Everything I do to my car I check this forum out first, and I spend way too much time on it at work. This kind of stuff showing up at work would get me fired.

It has to stop, now.

I pm'd one of the mods about it, mentioning the idea of at least adding a few more mods to specifically address this issue... didnt get a response though. During the day it gets cleared up rather quickly, but I often see it sit there for hours when I'm on at night and I'm guessing it sits there for a few hours once people start getting up in the mornings till a mod is able to get to it. I'm sure there's someone up around the times I'm up (and probably later) that could do this... just have to figure out who they find suitable as a mod in charge of that.

I volunteer to be part of the "Spam - Search & Destory" team leader

As some of you might notice, Im a loser(yep I admit) and Im on the internet whenever Im home. even when Im enjoying my PS3 I still have my laptop on(mostly for game walkthrus)

Make me some kind of special mods with ability to delete threads. thats all I'll hunt them all.

that's exactly what I was proposing. I'm on a lot of the time when few users are on... which also happens to be when less mods are on... and when more spam goes unnoticed. Even if it's a few we need a slight boost in patrolling for this sort of thing.

PS.... anyone who gets the job should get a cool looking badge or something... like the geek squad.

+1. I'm not sure if they're worried about admin abuse kinds of things, but it would be useful if we had more mods. I'd be more than willing to spend some time checking for that stuff but I'm not exactly well known so probably not the most likely candidate. Problem is we need more mods, but dont want to get too many mods either. Hope we find something that works because these things only seem to be getting worse. I remember not too long ago I would never see these... was surprised the first time I did because I had been here a while.

I think the mods have better things to do then ****-hunt. It's a matter of a few lines of code to clear up 99.999% of the spam. Not sure why it's not in place, but it's not.

We get what we can. The Mods don't have access to all forums, so all we can do is report it like you do. I don't have rights to the Vendors area. When that last big spam attack happened, I was acting on the posts to the areas that I am a Mod on. But, I could only report about the ones in the Vendors area.
I am on here many hours a day, at home and work. At home I have a multiscreen setup and run an option where I can see every new post as it comes up. I can ban a spammer and deal with the post as it comes up.

Maybe it is my imagination, but the **** spam that used to be just text and links, nothing else, has now "advanced" to the point that the **** spam also includes actual photos and video.

you're right.

on another note, this thread should be directed at spam in general... didnt event think about it till I saw a regular spam earlier.
